Santa's Podracer
My 4th Annual Christmas MOC.
About this creation
First of all, Merry Christmas everybody! We've almost made it through the unluckiest of years being 2013 and all. This is my 4th Annual Christmas MOC that all started back when I joined MOCpages. You can see 1, 2, and 3 and enjoy all that they have to offer here.

Reindeer and single planetary gift giving are nice for our Santa Claus, but this is how Jedi Master Kris Kringle delivers gifts to all the people of the galaxy. At least on the planet surfaces anyway. Podracing; it's the way to go!

Rotations

Pods

The design of the pods was the most crucial thing. I wanted to have 8 pods because that's how many reindeer there are (And I didn't forget about Rudolf, I just didn't have another bunch of pieces to make an extra ninth pod. It's hard enough finding 8 and 16 of every piece to begin with, now I have to find extras? Sorry, not happening.) but there is the issue of actually connecting 8 pods. I though about making a bunch of left and right pods all in front of one another but that doesn't seem very practical.

I had some inspiration from Ben Quadinaros, and Nnenn. The idea of layering pods and then only making two by connecting them really works well in my opinion. They only thing I didn't try to attempt because I was afraid it would all shatter would be a support structure to the sled other than just the connecting tubes. And speaking of those tubes, Christmas Lights because why not.

Sleigh

The sleigh might be a little big, but then again, there are 8 pods pulling it, so maybe it works. The sled has to be big enough for all those presents. Anyway, the front is just some nice holly decorating. The seat though was one of the first things I built in the sleigh. I wanted it to look like an old truck with the single bench seat but with nice 50's red leather and I think it cam out beautifully.

I even tried making controls like a dashboard. I added sci-fi screens because this is space tech we're talking about, but then there are some nice little radar or pressure things, I don't know, they are just to give info on the pods. Words, they are difficult.

The connection area of the cables uses that nice tri-connector with the axles piece and then I have standard connectors that use other axles and you know, technicy bits. It's complicated, and I'm sure you really don't care. But how about that outer stuff to hid the connection? Nice right?

The main point of this is to show you the skis? of the sleigh. I wish the plates had been gold too, but just imagine they're silver than gray.

More detailing with holly.

The entire back is the entire back of the inside. You'll see that later. How about that holly stuff?

And my, look at all of those presents. I almost couldn't get all the ones I made to fit inside, too many good kids throughout the galaxy this year.

Pit Station

Just like the 7171 Mos Espa Podrace, and my other Podracer, there is a pit station. Complete with snow mound, flag, iconic North Pole with tool attachments, and a Snowjedi!
But what is this? It looks like someone is gearing for an attack on all those presents...

IT'S THE GREEDO THAT STOLE CHRISTMAS!

Fortunately, Kringle is a Jedi and was able to stop that mean old Rodian, and kindly disarms him in place of a giant lump of coal. Greedo's not going to know what to do with that piece of ancient technology.

These next few pics are the inside of that sleigh. I made sure it was tiled inside so that no gifts got stuck. Also in there are some pieces to store two lightsabers and a cloak.

Santa and his helper Pit Droid. I originally had the gray parts in white but then an are broke on me and I couldn't find another. Bricklink is nice, but for one piece? I think I'll just stick with the gray.

And here is a look at all of those wonderful presents. My favorites are the White and Gray small 2x3 one and the Blue and Lime Green small 2x3 one. The white one just looks so pure and beautiful, and the blue one reminds me of RC from Toy Story.

You should.

Aww, yeah! I've always loved pods (And a builder of rocket Sleighs myself), and this is epic! The Linked pods are good look. (Nnenn has a unique pod.) And yeah...multiples of 17 are frankly difficult. What can I say. EPIC! Arci

Quoting David Roberts A brilliant fusion but shouldn't one of the pods have a red nose? :)
You make me want to force you to step on a LEGO Brick so hard right now... This is all I've been getting. "Cool MOC, one should have a red nose." Megarage!

Haha! Geeky and goofy, good combo! It would have been awesome to have Rudolph as well, perhaps in a 3x3 orientation? With a trans red grill tile for a nose :)

Cool! I made my first one this year, and I also plan on making it an annual event. The engines are insane, and the controls are very detailed, well done!

Quoting David . Nice moc! I spot an astro-mech on there... ;) This is so wonderful MC, it's plain great! :D Also, you can account for the no Rudolph by saying that it's just pre-rudolph days. ;) (This being a long time ago in a galaxy far far away and such)
Yeah, I didn't have a regular copper dome. That pod is just a little busted. Perhaps its Cupid. And yes, I like that idea of this being Pre-Rudolfian Era. I only really see Rudolf as being a last minute sort of guy anyway. Come on, it can't be foggy everywhere, and it just happens to be on the night of nights that it's foggy right where you take off? You can still see where you're going, even on Kamino. The worst you'd go through is a blizzard on Hoth and there ain't nobody on that thing but Taun Tauns and Wampas. Maybe Umbara, but they sided with the bad guys, easy enough to just dump coal about. Rudolf isn't needed.

Fabulous creation! I love the sleigh and I'm diggin those Reindeer. I think that "The Greedo that Stole Christmas" would be a great movie title :)

Thanks for all the awesome comments everyone. I would like to address though that Rudolf is the 9th Reindeer. I could only make 8 pods. If I gave one a red nose, we're down a Cupid. If I added a pod, we'd have a MOC with a little spit of a tablescrap up in front. I did consider making one, but he wouldn't have matched with the others.

Awesome! Great work! A few days ago I wouldn't have understood a podracer at all. Because I just watched the first three movies! I like the idea of the lightsabers, but they wouldn't be open, and if they were they would cut thru the sled. But that doesn't matter! Merry Christmas! I love all the gifts! They look so good! I couldn't figure out how to do presents. ~Bill
