Well, my long awaited moment has arrived, I have finally
completed Cybercity, all 44 locations, roads, interiors,
vehicles, only the pictures for the frames remain to be done.
for anybody that does nt know me, it s no doll house...
all buildings have elevators, stairs, and emergency ladders,
and fire hydrants, or extinguishers.
it s meant to be able to follow characters in movies,
wherever they go, for realism.
it s a futuristic, self sustainable city, as you can see here,
small spacecrafts can land on some rooftops, here, to refuel,
the service garage features a repair bay [orange]
a car sale dealer [red] and a tune shop [light blue]
I will not show 44 locations on this post, neither the interiors,
as it would be too lengthy, but, you ll see them in 2 of my series,
[Cybercity tales of Alta-5, Metal Legion Alta-5 special ops]
the city park has been greatly enhanced, the main challenge
was that it had to allow the train to travel on it...
it features many functions; a natural park with trees and pic-nic tables
[interior] a stage for bands, a catwalk for fashion models,
and a cinema.
the black in the rear of the stage is a numerical frame
that will act as a giant screen
for bands and movies.
it can sit over a 100 figs I figure.
the construction site-cement factory had the same constraints,
+ it had to house all the team, I did research to find how cement was made.
You ll notice that there are 2 cranes, 1 permanent to
the location, and a mobile one.
The construction site s function is to repair the city, or other
cities around sector 14, it s also for city upgrades...
It gave me lots of head aches, as it s pretty big, and my conventional
building technique did nt work for this one.
The yellow semi is to transport the mobile crane or other equipment.
The police-fire station remained much the same,
I polished it a bit, in and out.
you can expect lots of action, xd.
I was real happy that lego released the Dalmatians dogs, thanks guys!
it looks fab against a red fire truck.
You can also expect pretty funky characters from me as well, xd.
I like the super heroes as well...
here are only 6 of the 24 houses in Cybercity...
And 2 out of 4 commercial centers.
in the long run, I want to achieve each of the houses to be a different color,
I m almost there.
Right now, I m in the process of amassing castle material,
for my Meedass serie, it consists of mostly light gray,
so, it fits all 4 series, I also get my hands on any classic space-blacktron that I can,
and it s going nicely,
I will now start work on Cybercity and Metal Legion scripts,
I already know where I m going, but, the exact words are not yet defined.
hopefully, I ll gain experience in lighting and pic angles, and deliver
movies for this summer.
It looks great Frank! I'm glad to see that you're still active. I've been away for a while but I think I have mostly everything to the point where I don't need to modify anymore so I'll slowly make a return.
Quoting Tris B
thanks Tris! the new apartment I live in does nt allow me to lay the city in it s entirety on the floor, only a 1/4 to 1/2, I bought many shelve systems to store it, as it s easy to dismantle, I can use it to make big scenes, and I try to find ways to make the best of it, but, only when I ll buy a house will I be able to use my total layout, I have designed it to be transportable for exhibits, that s why it s entirely modular!
Cyber City has gone from strength to strength. Has it settled into its new abode now? It looks like real daylight doesn't touch it now? Not sure it ever did. It looks more sectionalised than it did, is this the case? Are there any overall shots of the conurbation? I should look but you post so much I always fail to keep up.
Quoting Builder Allan
he, he, I totally understand your point, before I finished Cybercity, there where no way to amass material, as, most of it went into the city, at last, it s over, whatever I buy now, is loose, I use it, then store it back like most people here, the thing with new kits is that it inspires for new creation though, so, now, I really amass, it s used for secondary scenes, or just inspired pieces like the Christmas specials, it also allows for scenes for meedass, or genesis, if I m pressed for time, and can t disassemble on time for the next episode of a determined episode-serie, that way, I can produce on schedule, but, I sacrificed my couple, and more to achieve, I want to make movies, everything else is on hold for now, I m about your age, and lived pretty much everything else than producing movies, so, that s what I want now, when I will have succeeded at this, maybe I ll get back at a more common life, I just feel like I want to live something more out of it, something new, something special.
Oh thanks, you might be right actually.. I often just store a new build for the future setup of my own city, because i don't think it's good enough to stand on it's own. About the money-thing: Exactly! No parts to build from unless i scrap something else :-) But time is a large factor too. Between the girlfriend, work and daily chores there is little time to build - or set up photography. The holidays gave me some extra time too though, so i've finally finished the house and posted it too!
Congrats for reaching your goal with completing your fantastic town Frank! Your town is absolute impressive and i love reading whats going on there. Can't wait to read the next action packed story :) Hope you had a great christmas my friend. I had a very good one ;)
Quoting MortalSwordsman .
thanks MS! well, I had a productive Christmas, same as last year, I worked on this, but, I won t have to do that next year, as, the city is finished, I reached my goal to have it done for 2014. I hope you had a good Christmas too MS!
Quoting Nick White
thanks Nick! you could, it s just a matter of time and dedication, I just don t buy anything else, or go out, I work at my job and on this for 4 years, it gets results, now I m closer to get you in, expect it to happen in the early episodes, say...#3-4.
Quoting matt rowntRee
thanks a lot Matt! you can t believe how relieved I am from finishing this, I have spent my last Christmas and new year s eve working on it, it will stay like that for a long time now, secondary sets are not as demanding, I m glad it s over!
Quoting Lone Wolf 1201
thank you very much Lone wolf! I m getting there, my dark age has been extensive, but, I m making efforts and sacrifices to get it back, I m still a bit old school, but, you can teach old dogs new tricks you know? xd.
Quoting Builder Allan
you say you don t post much because of money? I guess you mean because you can t afford new kits... because you already have quite a collection, it s just ...stored...xd, I know you keep it all built, heck, you could just post a few mocs already built, toghether in a nice set-up with roads, and it would rock the pages, Al, you don t realize what you have, that s all, xd.
Hehe i know, and thank you for that :-) I know i don't post much - mostly a question of money, but i am slowly building up parts to finish some stuff and start up a couple of new things. Also, the job i have now takes up a lot more time than my old one, but i should begin to see the results of my labor soon. The new stuff is up - unfortunately only as sneak previews on the work page until i can finish them and have time to set up proper photography!
Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus
to accept to be part of it, and in my GF group, it gives me an idea, + I remember how much great comments you gave me during the early days, that s why you re an important figure in the script!
Wow, an awesome looking city! I am SO looking forward to the day when i can fully set up my own city. You have lots of cool buildings and great, humorous details everywhere - like the car in the web. I also like how you actually researched how the cement-factory should work before building it, that is aiming for accuracy indeed :-) I'll be uploading some stuff for my test-page in a few minutes if you would like to check it out. Not particularly meant for the challenge though :-D
Holy cow! Frank how big is this city. I love all the details you put into this. All your missing is the Simpsons ha ha ha . I've been thinking of building a city too and this might just be the kick in the pants I needed. Excellent city Frank!
