The Hero of Avalancia - Chapter One: Shadow Tower
About this creation
The darkness of Dracovia stretches as far as the naked eye can see. The rocky wasteland is dreary and depressing. Not a single sprig of green protrudes from the gray, cracked ground. Death and decay fills the air as rotten carcasses slowly deteriorate. This is not a place for the faint of heart. But our hero is not so. He is Sir Jalton of Avalancia, accompanied by his loyal flag-bearer, Thomas Doogleberry. He is on a quest to retrieve a wealthy ambassador who was ambushed on the road through Vrago Pass. He was to retrieve the ambassador through any means necessary...

Sir Jalton and Thomas turn the corner, and the dark Shadow Tower looms above them like a thick spear with a brown tip.

Jalton: Oh, look ahead, my dear flag-bearer! We have finally come upon Shadow Tower! Wave those colors proudly, Thomas! I want them to know who's coming!

Thomas: Yes sir!

Jalton: Excellent! Then let us proceed!

As soon as they arrive, they are surrounded by a horde of Dracovians, whom of which are armed to the teeth.

Jalton: Look at this Thomas! A welcoming committee!

Lead Soldier: Well, lowly knight, I trust you're here for the ambassador, no? My name is Baron Gripora, and I run the show here. If you want the ambassador back, you'll pay the ransom I requested in the letter I sent to your king.

Jalton: Ransom? Letter? Nope, doesn't ring a bell. But, each and every one of you have a price on your heads, I'm sure. And unless you want me to personally deliver you to the Gold King Phillip, you'll stand aside.

Dracovian Knight: Bwahaha! Fool! You're in Dracovia now! You're greatly outnumbered, you stand no chance!

Jalton: Perhaps you'd like to be the first to taste Avalancian steel, eh?

Thomas: Sir Jalton, wait-

But it was too late. Sir Jalton had provoked them. From his side, Jalton was assaulted by a sword wielding Dracovian. Jalton cut him down with one swing of his mighty sword.

When Jalton finished him off with a stab to the neck, the Dracovian knight rushed him from behind. But Thomas was more than a normal flag-bearer. You don't travel with Sir Jalton without learning a thing or two about self-defense.

Jalton turned just in time to see Thomas whack the knight on the forehead with the blunt end of his flagpole.

Jalton: I say, Thomas! Well done!

Thomas: Thank you, sir!

Jalton: Well, my good Baron, it appears you are all alone now. What do you have to say about that?

Baron Gripora: Dracovia will have your head you stubborn knight! There is no forgiveness for you now! There will be no place for you to hide! Better yet, I'll just kill you now!

Jalton: I thought you'd never ask!

The Baron brought down his sword upon Jalton's sheild.

Jalton: Ha! You'll have to do much better than that, Baron!

Baron Gripora: Gah! Don't provoke me, you blue and gold filth!

They continued to fight, unrelenting blow after unrelenting blow.

Jalton: You're no match, Baron, give it up!

Baron Gripora: Your youth is your only advantage, boy!

And finally, after a rough struggle, youth prevailed as Jalton unarmed Gripora with a swift strike from his sword.

Jalton: I told you, Baron. You should have just given up the ambassador! Now you die instead!

Baron Gripora: Hah! You obviously no not whom I am, boy! Otherwise, your sword would be sheathed! My death will rally hundreds against Avalancia! All of Avalancia's enemies will band together to bring you down! The era of the Gold King is over once you kill me!

Jalton: I think I'll take my chances, Baron! Farewell!

Jalton then raises his sword, and pierces Gripora through the heart with it. Gripora screams and dies.

Thomas: I'm sure glad that's over. I'm sure the ambassador will be happy to see us, sir!

Jalton: Indeed he will, Thomas! Let's waste no more time in this desolate, rocky country!

And with the Baron and his soldiers disposed of, and nothing else to stand in their way, they enter the foreboding tower.

To be continued...

Oh, the irony - it takes more thought and effort to make a wall that looks rough and random than a smooth one. You might try throwing in cylinders or 1x1 and 1x2 plates to help with the weathered look, too. Aside from these petty details, the tower is pretty good, and the buttresses - so often left out of these structures - are a nice touch.
Thanks Gilbert! :D

Quoting Halhi 141 Not too bad but I think the tower is way too messy, the colors need to be blended more rather than being placed randomly.
