A 1:65 scale model of an OTO Melara 76mm/62 naval gun.
About this creation
Continuing on the components for my ongoing SHIP project, we have a 1:65 scale model of the OTO Melara 76mm/62 cannon. Because of its compact design and versatility, this cannon might be the single most common naval gun in the world right now. It is used by dozens of navies and can be mounted onto patrol craft displacing fewer than 100 tons, but has enough punch to be put on naval vessels weighing in at as much as 5000 tons.
The actual gun can depress to -15 degrees and elevate to +85 degrees, and can rotate 360 degrees. My model can depress to -13 degrees and elevate to +65 degrees, and can rotate 360 degrees. I could have improved the elevation angle to +87 degrees, but it would have come at the cost of making the model significantly uglier and more fragile.

Awesome cannon ! I think your building the USCGC Gallatin 721
Thanks, and you are basically correct -- while I didn't have the Gallatin specifically in mind, I am building a Hamilton class cutter. With a scale of 1:65, the model a 378-foot Hamilton class cutter is going to come in at almost 6 feet, so it is going to take me a while.
