Optimus Prime - 2014 G1 Reboot
G1 Autobot Leader ..Optimus Prime is back with a vengeance....
About this creation
After more than 4 years since my original, public domain LDD Optimus Prime , hit the net, and since its been copied and plagiarized to death over the years, I decided its a new year and its time for a reboot of my favourite character in Lego..... G1 Optimus Prime.

This reboot was inspired by the original G1 Transformers Cartoon (note the light blue opaque windshield). I wanted to make the wheels hidden in robot mode like the cartoon and keep the general chunkiness of my bot style. I also kept the joints to ball and cup type as I am thinking I may get around to creating some stop motion animation this year. I am very happy with this build. He is about 10" tall, a smidge shorter than his papa and about and inch shorter than my Ultimate Version - Optimus Prime Model . The model has great poseability, sturdiness and stability and gave me a chance to incorporate building tricks and techniques I did not possess at the time of the original release.

This design will not be released freely into the net this time, so if interested in a clone of this model (build to order), or design files to be drawn up please email me at bwtmtbrickworks@gmail.com for a quote.

Watch the video Review on Youtube for more insight into this model and how it transforms!

Chris Phipson said that he is getting sticky... Heh heh... Okay, be mature... Anyways, This is superb in every way! I went back and watched all of your Optimus Prime videos on YouTube, and I can really see the evolution. Also, today I saw that this is featured on the home page in the "Across MOCpages" section. Congratulations!

don't get too sticky...until you see a short animation vid. I have been thinking about this for years ... I certainly have enough formers though. just need the time!
Quoting Chris Phipson Did I hear you say... stop motion? Dude... I'm already getting all sticky thinking about how COOL that would be! Complete with all the sound effects! Get Peter Cullen to come in and do some voice over and... ok, that might be stretching it a bit. But DUDE... stop motion would be KILLER! ~ Chris.

Little details change here and there every time you make Optimus. Different bricks and techniques make every one of them special and unique. I like this one! Yes, very much fashioned after the cartoon. While it is sad how people mimic and recreate without permission to claim it as their own, I suppose it could be taken as a compliment despite there is no thanking you. Obviously, it's your choice to not post the LDD instructions and I don't have issue with it. I have LDD versions of all of mine but, not posted all of them. They're not as notable as yours but, I would irritated if someone stole it as their own. Now...for stop motion, that would be great to see. I think you have enough legoformers to recreate all the movies. Well, with the exception of a Unicron.

Quoting Derrick Lau Amazing work...which happens to be your norm, BTW. It is really Lego's loss they did not hire you as a Master Builder / etc... I'm trying to modify yours and a few other's G1 Megatron designs to use ball and cups too...if I ever succeed I'll be sure to note that the original idea came from you and the others, and obviously mine will never be as good.

Quoting Commander Spencer, Ultimate Bionicle Fan Nice, however I feel that his torso is just a bit too chunky, and his vehicle mode just looks kinda awkward. Is this guy replacing your LDD version or your Ultimate version?
