Rego travels through the catacombs...
About this creation
LINK!

Bracket: Wrestling

Category: Funhouse
Every year, the Tourney administrations set up a sort of an obstacle course on the Tourney grounds filled with dangerous traps. Its challenge is increased by a ban on all weapons inside the labyrinth. This year the course is set inside the catacombs beneath the city of Carthal, and it is your task to show your wrestler braving the mechanisms within to prove his or her strength before going against a live opponent later in the Tourney.

Rego had been in the eerily lit catacombs for too long. He couldn't know how long, could have been anywhere from 30 minutes to a day. No matter how long, it was too long for Rego.

He continued the seemingly endless underground trek, walking through yet another torch lit cavern. He listened to the lively sounds of the city above, and the creepy sounds of rats, moles, and whatever else lived in the catacombs. The sounds combined into one chilling melody.

Suddenly the sound of gears broke into the melody, as two axes swung out of the wall, barely missing Rego as he ducked. Rego smiled charismatically, grabbing one of the axes and pulling it out of the contraption it belonged to with a snap.

Rego: Now I have a weapon. Time I use it.

He took a step forward and set off another trap!

A net fell from the ceiling, triggered by Rego's movements. The net sickeningly breathed, moved, and exploded as its contents spilled out. It was filled with deadly scorpions.

Rego stabbed into the fray, killing the scorpions as they pulsed out of their nest.

He plunged his axe through a scorpion, vaulting over the remaining creatures.

Rego landed gracefully, slicing another of the frantic scorpions.

Soon each scorpions found his end, as Rego stabbed the remnants of the hoard.

Rego firmly pressed his axe onto the last scorpion as it confusedly scrambled.

The Average Gnome placed his foot on top of the scorpion, applying more and more pressure until Rego heard the satisfying snap as the scorpion died, and Rego smiled contently.

He continued on through the labyrinth...

Rego: Hmm...

Rego looked around, no traps were apparent, which meant they were hidden, the most dangerous type...

Suddenly a hulking figure leaped out of the shadows, clad in black armor, and wielding a spear-axe hybrid.

Rego dived past the warrior, dodging his strike.

The two both spun, and their blades met with a spark.

The warrior twirled his weapon, ripping the axe out of Arian's hands!

Rego's opponent leaped forward, expecting to deal the final blow, only to fly back as the axe blade on his spear shattered off Arian's magic Speedo!

Rego: Mhahaha!

Arian grabbed two stones off cavern's floor, leaping towards the warrior.

The figure leaped to his feet, finding a mouth full of rock as Rego delivered a devastating blow to his jaw, and sending his helmet flying!

Arian delivered blow after blow...

Dragging his opponent to the ground!

As his dazed adversary drifted into unconsciousness, Arian grabbed the spear, plunging it into the armored warrior.

Arian jumped in surprise, as he heard a rumbled from above. He bolted forward, as a shower of rock fell behind him. The room was collapsing!

As the room caved in, the warrior's ancient, ornate helmet gazed off solemnly...

The end!

My PRECIOUSSSSS, wait an olive cheese slope...?

And what's on the top? Some weirdo being chased by orcs...?

My friend told me to put that chicken wing. XD

Ta-da! The MOC is a cutaway.

Reverse side! See those knobs and levers...

All the functions in the story actually work! This one swings the axes... (gear activated)

This one's more complicated: first pull the knob (it's a safety) the turn the lever. The result is a trapdoor opening, releasing a bunch of dark bley 1x1 and 1x2 slopes! This is the collapsing room function. It's easy and works great!

Pull this one to release the scorpions!

Inside!

I love the textures!

Zoomed out. The bushes activate the light bricks (the lighting in the story is purist) ;).

There are two light bricks, one on each side.

Like the border?

Creator's Comments:
This was a challenging build! All the functions, details, and even taking the pictures were all tough! I love the lighting, push the bushes and BAM! Red, awesome light!

I really should make a video of the functions. I'll do it soon. ;)

Thanks for looking, and good luck to the other competitors! :D

Have I really not commented on this yet? Great build! Love the textures both on the ground and walls and those functional traps are pretty neat. I actually like the dim red lighting; true, a torch would be more orangey, but this is still fine. I also really like the transition from stone to soil and the landscaping on top.

By the time I'm allowed to comment, I don't know what else I can say. I'll hold myself to saying that I agree completely with the other comments, and that you have exceeded even your own standards in this build.

Quoting David FNJ Dude, those functions are great! You hid them so well! The rock in the ground covered with soil is great! It's like you took a chunk out of the earth and presented it as your MOC. Fabulous.
Thanks David! :D

Quoting Fraser Robinson Just a stellar build, great lighting, functions, story, everything here is well done.
Thanks Fraser! :)
Quoting David . Not sure what I like better, cutaways or where the ground looks like it was torn off the earth an then plopped onto a base-plate. :) Either way, I love this. Especially the dirt turning to rock. :) Everything is just so perfect. XD Also, I'd chase Emmet too. :P
Thanks! Emmet seems to get chased a lot! XD
Quoting Lindel Baskin Epic lighting, Toa! I love the texturing in the cave. The foliage on top is excellent, and having the soil slowly give way to rock as you go down is a nice touch. The working functions are great as well! Good luck!
Thanks Lindel!
