31007 alternative - Hot Rod.
after the mysterious recovery of my camera, i have made a alternative of my most recent purchase-creator set 31007. i won't do any more as i've already used a few of the left over parts for something bigger and better. ;D
About this creation

the front. i'm quite proud of the grill, despite being an 'illegal' hinge joint.

side. not much to say.

rear. kinda looks like an original Beetle.

Sam's fan fact #1: this definitely isn't a rip off of what Senator does.
Sam's fun fact #-13: this isn't my first alternative. i did one for the set 31002, but the best i came up with was a 4-wide Plymouth Superbird thing monster truck. =|

Sam's fun fact #892: there weren't many engine-y parts, so there engine isn't very detailed.
Sam's fun fact #puple: this build is surprisingly strong MOC.

Sam's fun fact #k$: this MOC *bang, bang*

*enough of the facts!!*

phew...that was close. anyway, there will be instructions with spare parts so you can do your own, but i can't be bothered. see you later...in fact it won't be very long before i do another MOC...

so, i hear you ask, what was that 'bigger, better' MOC i was on about? look no further...

THAN A WIP!!

Quoting Sato . Sorry, Got a bit distracted with other things. On my homepage here at MOCpages (http://mocpages.com/home.php/102866) you can find 2 ways to contact me (Brickset or Eurobricks), Send me your email address trough either one of those and I'll send my LDD files of this model to you as soon as possible.
Cheers mate, I'll see what I can do.

Quoting Sato . It's a lovely little hot rod, And it was a fun build. (I like these little puzzles to get my recreation as close to the original, Although I added some strength and support to the rear wheels.) You mentioned Building instructions but haven't added them yet. I've created LDD files of my recreation that I could sent to you to you so you can add them to this page for others who want to build your model or I could post them on my own page. (I haven't taken photo's yet, And I prefer the first option because I feel it will reach more people.)
Thanks Sato!! Views has been pretty slow, so if you give me instructions and I create a new one on LDD, it should get out to more people (of coarse, giving you credit). I will check out some of your creations now!

Quoting Nathanael Kuipers Considering that this is one of your first alternatives, I'd say you did a pretty good job! I was also pleased to read that my work has inspired you to do so. Despite that the grill is an "illegal" build, I quite like to see unusual techniques or details that are achieved by non conventional builds, like the angled rear end. To me designing alternatives is all about using your available resources in efficient and inventive ways. I suggest that next time try to build at least a few models from 1 set, because this should greatly enhance your creative skills and insights in how you can use and combine certain pieces. This alternative is good, the next will be even better, and after that I'm convinced that you'll be able to present some excellent models. It certainly took me a while before I had mastered the inventory (and possibilities)of set 5867... Looking forward to seeing more alternatives from you. ;-)
thank you Nathanael. i appreciate you looking, and your words mean a lot. i was already in the middle of a project, and i bought the set for the pieces. the alternative was for fun and something new, and the result was surprising. 5867 looks amazing, and one i really want to get my hands on (as well as 31006), but my family are currently having a slight 'financial crisis', so i'll have to wait. ;P thank you so much, i appreciate it, and will keep this in mind.

Quoting Vaclav Mesaros I like the height of your Hot Rod. With these wheels looks realy massive. Nice details in the front and smooth shapes at the rear part.
thanks Vaclav! that's really good to hear from you, as you seem to be the only alternative builder to this set bar one, and nice to hear your opinion. i'm personally not too sure on the rear, but thanks anyway! i appreciate it!

thanks David!! it's a fairly polular exhaust technique, but it works on nothing better than a small-scale 'rod. ;D
