The Tourney Round 2: Stephen Boe vs. Caleb R.
My beautiful entry for round 2 of The Tourney. It's one of my largest builds yet, with 16 x 40 studs, and my new favorite build.
About this creation
The Tourney

My opponent: Caleb R.

Guild: Average Gnomes

Bracket: Wrestling

Category: Sprinting Event
- Build an event-like scene depicting your character in some sort of running race (or a relay race with other minifigures in your guild (can be imaginary guild members). You decide the terrain of the race. Since this is an event, sidelines of friends, family, and fans can definitely be present as well as judges to verify who wins the race. You do not have to have a start and finish line (or either) as part of your build. Are you quick enough to move on to the next round?

Destrian, currently nearing the finish line of The Tourney's sprinting event, dashed past a minuscule stream, a tributary for the larger river below. As an expert archer, he was quick and agile, so he was naturally ahead of all the other runners.

He glanced behind and caught another runner tailing him, catching up.

And another. Either he was slowing down, or they were getting faster. Either way, he had to outrun them quickly.

He reached a large rock arch. He had to scale this slowly. If he fell, it would most likely cause him a serious injury or death on the rocks below. As he balanced himself, the runner behind him tripped amongst the foliage and face-planted.

It slowed down the other runner a bit too. Good, Destrian thought, that will buy me some time.

Meanwhile, another contestant, a Crimson Knight, hobbled along. He was rather slow compared to the others, he would be no hindrance to Destrian.

Finally, he got off the arch, and continued downwards the rocks.

Destrian scrambled down the rocky slopes and took notice of a few small boulders jutting out of the river. No doubt he would have to cross them to keep going.

He jumped onto the first, but lost his footing in the process. Fortunately, he was able to grasp onto the rocks and prevent himself from falling into the river.

As he jumped onto the next, two of the runners caught up.

Simultaneously, they leaped for the rock and slammed into each other.

There bodies splashed into the river, and they began to scramble up the rock.

This was a most opportune delay for Destrian, and he continued to traverse the rocks towards the finish line.

THE BUILD

A somewhat artistic shot.

The orange leaves from the LOTR Rivendell set were fun to use with the dark red leaves.

I had fun using hinges to angle the edges of the grass on the rocks, first time I used it. I must say I'm very pleased with the result.

Thanks for stopping by! Please rate and comment!

Quoting Halhi 141 Oh, just something I noticed when looking over this again: it's usually a good idea to keep the length to width ratio at around 2:1, or smaller. For instance, my entry was something like 55x29. Hope this helps, and again, great build!
I'll keep that in mind.

Quoting Kai Bernstein Great job! I love the diverse build and the mix of SNoT and studs-up is really nice. I swear, Destrain is a flesh, alternate reality Halbert. He looks almost exactly like him and even had to jump to two rocks in the river/underground abyss!
Thanks Kai! I also eally like the combination between studs up and SNOT. Maybe Halbert and Destrian are related! :O

Quoting George Marshall Epic! A great entry you have right here! My favorite part would have to be the dark gray rocks near the water, so show that they are wet from the water. There is so much detail in this MOC, and it was truly worth all of the work you put into this. Great job, and good luck!
Thanks George! Surprisingly, this only took about a day's worth of time to build over a period of 3 days.
