Another recreation of a classic Space set, 1558-1: Mobile Command Trailer.
About this creation
Status: Intact. Sturdy little thing, too. I've dropped it a few times and only had minor parts far off. This thing is surprisingly hardy and still manages to look decent.
For comparison, on the right side, you can see the original 1558-1 Mobile Command Trailer. Notice how the angles from the original have become curves on the new one. The large trans-yellow dish is now a dome, making it sleeker while removing all that wasted space the support frame the original had. The black stripe is gone, but you can see the grey running along the side. The 1x1 slope on the control sticks mimics the 1x2 slopes of the original.
New features include an updated trans-dark blue display for multiple interfaces, reinforced cylindrical bumpers (with extra lighting units for darker areas), two additional computer panels in the back, and finally, someone had the bright idea of moving the tools from between the front and rear sections. Suddenly, the driver can exit easily, you're not running into your own tools, and the front can't rub up against the back.
Seeing how someone has to drive the trailer, the new design opted for one jetpack. The newer Model 14 packs have better range, speed, maneuverability, reliability and are more efficient. They also have vastly improved life support, letting the user fly for up to 10 hours before needing to replenish their oxygen supply.
Classic yellow. Can't really beat that.
Also, if you don't have any good yellow minifig parts to recreate the original, you may as just use the originals, right?
