Hero Factory has always disappointed me in some way or another. Whether itís with the show, the sets or the outrageous ideas behind them, they will never live up to what Bionicle left behind. One of the things I donít like is the combination models. With Bionicle, at least they were cool for a few reasons. For the most part, they looked awesome. Combining Vezon and Fenrakk, Axxon and Brutaka makes one of the coolest Bionicles Iíve ever seen. And even for the ones that donít look cool (like the Toa Kaita from years one and two or the idiotic excuse for Ďcombiningí in the Karda Nui saga with the Matoran), they had a purpose in the story. The Toa Kaita were supposed to be a symbol of unity, Kardas was supposed to be a monster forged from the bodies of Brutaka and Axxon to give Fenrakk the edge in battle, and the Matoran riding on the backs of Toa was meant to be a safety procedure. To top this all off, they actually had effort in their design. Hero Factory combo models, however, do not. They look terrible, have no purpose in the story and could have been designed by a five-year-old for all I care. So, I took it upon myself to combine the two into something somewhat decent, and whatís a better way to do that then to make a transformerÖ
About this creation

Star Axis: Hello there! Star Axis here again. You may remember me from the announcement for this Pick-A-Brick order.

Star Axis: Now, you may be wondering what the hell Iím doing here. Well, I have something to tell Lego. They probably wonít read this, but Iíve gotta say it.

Star Axis: THE HERO FACTORY TV SERIES IS GETTING EVEN S**TIER!

Star Axis: Honestly Lego, I know itís not Ninjago, BUT AT LEAST PUT SOME DAMN EFFORT INTO YOUR EPISODES!

Star Axis: The universal continuity is completely destroyed, the character development has been thrown out the window, the animation looks unnatural, the plot is utter crap, the voice acting sucks, itís horribly paced AND SURGE IS STERIOTYPICALLY AUSTRALIAN! SERIOUSLY! NEX IS NOT SURGE!

Star Axis: The show was good up to Breakout. After that, you took a decent showÖ

Star Axis:Öand threw it away into the pits of oblivion.

Star Axis: I was looking forward to this SO MUCH! I thought it would be like Pacific Rim in Hero Factory!

Star Axis: Instead, I am yet again disappointed.

Evo: AND WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEING A KUNG FU MASTER?
Star Axis: Um, hate to break it to you, but getting rid of that after 2.0 was actually a good thing.
Evo: OhÖ

Star Axis: You know, after watching that Iím just going to WALK away. I donít even feel like using super speedÖ

As I was saying in the intro, the official combo-model is utter crap, and the IFB isnít any better. Basically all you do is put an arm from each model onto Evo XL.

This MOC, however, is much better. It was inspired by the transformers beast wars.

In a size comparison for his beast mode, heís much shorter than a regular figure.

Hereís a gif of the transformation. The images are below.

1: Fold the wings out.

2: Stand it up.

3: Twist out the hands.

4: Twist the hands to the correct position.

5: Fold out the claws.

6: Fold down the arms.

7: Fold in the locking clamps on the chest.

8: Fold in the wings.

The remaining steps require you to look from the back.

9: Fold the head to the side (either side will do).

10: Peg in the tail to the corresponding claw.

As I said earlier, either side works.

And here we have Evo (AKA Evasion, which is a cross between Evo & Aquagon) in his robot mode.

I used the blue head instead of the green one to give an underwater style to his light piping.

To finish off, hereís a bunch of size comparisons with Blitzwing & Star Axis. Anyway, thanks for checking this out. Make sure to like, comment and add me as a favourite builder. And as always, happy building! :)

Oh, thanks for the info! I never knew! Honestly. I always assumed that Axxon and Brutaka fell in the lava and Fenrakk combined with them. Man, I must be really wrong about so many things. Wish they still sold the books...

While I do agree that the HF combiner models aren't that great, I can't help but point out some other things... for one, the Kardas Dragon wasn't made from Brutaka and Axonn in the story, it just happened to have the same colors. Also the Karda Nui Matoran attachment thing wasn't supposed to replace combiner models, and in fact there WERE combiners for that year (e.g. Spiriah). I don't mean to complain too much, just thought I'd point those things out. That said, the MOC itself is cool, with a very creative transformation function. I think it would be neat if they do a wave of HF featuring transforming sets.
