This is a model of the car owned by Mark from Classic Game Room my favorite web show! I tried to keep it as accurate to the real thing as possible. It has a V8 Engine, Opening doors, hood, tailgate, and one of my best interiors to date. I also built a few accessories for it to carry in the bed.
About this creation

The assembly line:
I had wanted to try another attempt at an El Camino for quite some time as the design of my camper one is getting pretty dated. I was originally going to build a 1970 El Camino, but then Classic Game Room, my favorite YouTube channel, put out a video showing Mark’s new 1972 Chevy El Camino. I really liked the look of the ’72 (about the same as the ‘70) and since my old El Camino was based on the 1970 model, I decided to build a 1972, specifically Mark’s 1972 Camino.
I started work building the El Camino and finished it surprisingly fast. I don’t know the exact time, but it was less than 8 hours which is how long most my cars take (I’d guess 6.5 hours). The front end took quite some time, it ended up being very similar in design to the Duster by Retro Motors, though a lot of time was spent to get the colors right with the parts I had. Creating your own car from scratch is much easier than trying to replicate a real one. The wheels also proved to be a bit of a problem, I finally ended up putting some of the older stile wheels with studs on backward, you can see how I did this in the picture of the bottom.
The rest of the build went pretty smooth, the next problem I ran into was replicating Mark from the show. I ended up having to take apart my extra Indiana Jones fig to get the jacket and switched out a head with one of my firemen. Since the show is about video games, I decided to build a Fig scale arcade cabinet and an Atari 2600 with Joystick to fit in the truck bed, both came out really well.

What is Classic Game Room?
Classic Game Room show website
Classic Game Room is my favorite web show, I said that already! Oh, you meant besides that… :p Well it is a web show that reviews video games (new and old) as well as gaming hardware. The best part about it is the guy who hosts it, Mark, is really witty and knows how to make a review informative and entertaining at the same time. Anyway, that is enough free advertising for them, on to the car!

Behind the wheel:
The 1972 Chevy El Camino is the ultimate car. It has the looks of a muscle car and the versatility of a pickup truck. Featuring a black leather bench seat (or plastic, on the LEGO one lol) V8 engine, and 48 stud^2 of cargo space! The 1972 Chevy El Camino is capable of caring multiple alligator carcasses in the truck bed - you probably won’t get that unless you watch CGR.
This is only the second car, if you count the Piranha/Barracuda that I’ve based on a real car (at least that ended up looking anything like the car I was trying to replicate). I am really impressed with how it came out. It looks as close as possible to the real thing both inside and out. I even went as far as to put the gearshift on the steering column – I used a non-LEGO rubber band (Gasp!) I also added Chevrolette and El Camino badges as stickers.

Interior:
I am really happy with how I got the gear shift lever on the steering column with the help of a small rubber band. I think I will probably add this to my retro wagon sometime in the future as I wanted it like this, but didn't know how to do it at the time. The only problem is that the dashboard gauges aren't accurate, but I couldn't find any good pictures of the dash to print my own decal.

Example of my Dedication
I really wanted to get pictures of this taken for you guys, so much so, that I went outside in 20 degree weather to take these pictures. Don't beleave me look at the close up of the thermometer below, and that is Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Oh yeah, and I guess I uploaded it during the Superbowl too, but I'm not a big football guy, so that doesn't really count (don't expect any MOCs during NASCAR though!)

Blast off to the Intergalactic Space Arcade in your magical El Camino!

A close up as the accessories I made for it to Carry:
An Arcade Cabinet, Atari 2600 (and yes the game comes out) with joystick, and a pack of Goodyear tires. I really like my joystick design, it functions just like the real thing moving in any direction.

The future:
I hope to send some games to Mark's show for him to review some time along with pictures of my LEGO version of him and his car. Might be a while though because as much as I'd like him to review some of the obscure PC and GBA games I have, I need to buy extra copies as I am unwilling to part with the ones I've got.

Quoting Nick White So that's what you look like! Very cool car! Good job!
Yup that is me! Though my hair is much shorter now, I like long hair, but sometimes I get annoyed with it and run a buzz-cut machine through, lol! Maybe I will try and get a picture of the real me on my Sig-Fig's page. Something to think about, I really need to take some more pictures, lots of new stuff to upload!

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 very cool camino! I like those a lot, they re sleek, perfect for a bachelor, as it only sits 2 persons, just like my old crx, excentric, sporty, and great looking, you did a fine job on it, in and out!
Actually I think it could seat 3 people, the one mark has on Classic Game Room has a bench seat. The El Camino really is one of the coolest cars ever, if I had one though I would get a truck cover to go on the bed.

Very cool! Lots of nice details, like the inner wheel wells in the back, the front and the interior. Overall shape looks very accurate too. Oh, nice video games too, i like both the home-one and that arcade one :-)

I love it! The shape is spot on. I really like how you did the rear, it's very spacious, which is usually hard to achieve on small scales. The cabin is also excellent, the shift handle is a very nice idea!
