15-Piece Vehicle Challenge: Micro Telehandler
A 2-wide micro telehandler.
About this creation
My entry for Sam the First's 15-piece Vehicle Challenge. I decided to go micro for this challenge and built a 2-wide telehandler. It is a modified version of a micro mobile crane that I had built earlier for my New England Fishing Village, but which several parts over the limit. I've included the LDD file in case there is any doubt that it is only 15 pieces.

The following two pictures are not part of my entry, but they are an alternate idea I had -- a micro fishing trawler. I decided that the telehandler was a little bit better, but I figured I'd include these as well for fun (If you want to see even more alternate builds, follow these links: Alternate Set #1, Alternate Set #2, Alternate Set #3, Alternate Set #4, and Alternate Set #5).

How did I miss this? What a superb entry! Simple and functional, I like how the arm of the vehicle actually swivels up and down. Keep On Brickin'!

Quoting matt rowntRee Wicked cool and completely compact in size! Great entry and a vehicle that is the most underrated and fun things to drive on the planet. They go everywhere! Awesome!
Thanks. I've never driven one, but it would be pretty cool -- maybe I'll have to put that on my "bucket list", along with a ride in a 427 Shelby Cobra.

Quoting Nick Barrett It doesn't need to be big to be brilliant. That trawler is really cute!
"It doesn't need to be big to be brilliant" is one my creeds. I really like building in micro-scale (or in any scale below minifig scale). It presents some interesting challenges and allows for one to tackle projects that would otherwise be impractical. My ongoing USCGC Hamilton project is a good example -- at minifig scale it would be about 10 feet long, but at the 1:65 scale I'm using, it is less than 6 feet -- still large, but manageable (barely).

Quoting Joe Pigg Bravo! I did not think of going micro... I thought I would just do like an Ariel or Caterham. Gee, no spoiler there.
Quoting Starscream Soundwave Clever!
Quoting Greg 998 Excellent micro-scale work!
Thanks, everyone! This challenge is actually pretty interesting. I think I might build a few more creations just for the fun of it.

Quoting sam the first Matt, that's going to take some beating.... incredible work!!
Thanks. There are some pretty talented people in this challenge, so I'm pretty sure someone is going to come up with something better, but I've always like construction equipment, so I was bound to do something like this no matter how good it looked.

Thanks. It came out looking a little better than even I expected, which is why I went with it over the fishing vessel.
