Time for some Spidey action again: Today he has to fight the Vulture who had planted a bomb on top of the Daily Bugle Building.
About this creation
Several ideas and incidents lead to this MOC. First of all, I got my hands on a custom Scarlet Spider minifig. The comic fans among you know that this is not Peter Parker, but Ben Reilly, who first appeared in the clone story that dragged on and on during the 90s.
Although I didn’t like the story very much, I loved the idea of Peter having an ‘identical twin brother’ and … the new costume. I know, many people hated it, but I loved it and always will. Deal with it ;o)
I saw my chance to make the already amazing minifig even better by using Wildstyle’s hood (after varnishing it blue).
Since I was already working with spray paint, I took the great eagle’s wings from the new Hobbit sets and created a custom Vulture.
Well, two minifigs are not a MOC – I needed a backdrop. Like almost every designer, I’m also a fontaholic. It came to my mind that most of the classic newspapers used Fraktur (or Gothic) fonts for their logos and I thought it would be a lot of fun to create huge Fraktur advertising letters on top of the Daily Bugle Building, which it was.
(I have to apologise for the dust on the MOC. I forgot to clean it and after I took all photos, I was too lazy to dust it and take all photos again – sorry)

Amazing detail in the the small portion of the building, made me want to see more of it.I think it is so awesome that pieces of the giant sign are just hanging in the air because of the explosion. Also great job with the custom vulture.
Thank you for your kind words, Tyler.

Next try some gotham city or the daily planet action scenes. You are good at capturing the action.
Feel free to have a closer look at my older creations. There you'll find some Daily Planet action.

Did we ever figure out who the real Parker was? Which was the actual clone?
If I remember it correctly, the real Parker was Peter and Ben was the clone, but with all this to-ing and fro-ing between Peter and Ben, I'm not 100 percent sure. Probably nobody at Marvel is either ;o)
Great choices of color, very nice realism in the architecture like your previous builds and same goes for the explosion scene. You also possess some great photo skills.
As good as bacon mate!
Well, you don't need me to tell you how good this is..... wait, what? That's what these comments are actually for? Oh man, all these years and I thought it was just an excuse for puns! Superb work my friend, I love the choice of villain (the vulture gets no love)and that custom Scarlet Spider is lovely, but the star as per is your detailing. The letters and scaffolding are delightful. Well done mate!

... And I'm sure you've been asked this before, but what do you think of the Amazing Spider-man in comparison to the earlier trilogy with Toby Maguire as Spider-man?
Thank you, Zog. Actually, I like both series. Hey, I grew up watching the 70s TV series with Nicholas Hammond and I even loved that one ;o) -----
I enjoyed watching the first 2 movies with Tobey (the 3rd one was horrible) I very much disliked the Green Goblin costume from the first movie. I loved the second one the more so because Doc Ock was extremely well done.
I wanted to see Frank Dillane in the role of Peter instead of Andrew Garfield, but after watching TAS I think Andrew did a really good job. I also like that Andrew was bold enought to suggest that Mary Jane should be a guy in part 2 and that Peter should be homosexual.
I am just blown away by this! Oh dear, I seem to have punned on myself again. Now... did I rate this as a 4 or 5? Can't seem to recall... (for those reading the comment and wondering, it's an inside joke). Love it brother! ~ Chris.

... I'm not at all familiar with Scarlet Spider-Man I'll have to check that out ,but the fig looks awesome and both hoods look great . Most impressive!
Thanks, Clayton. Checking out the clone story around Scarlet Spider is not an easy task, since it was a long, long storyline and wafted through all Spidey comic series. If you are interested, I suggest you read "The Clone Saga" Marvel came up with in 2009 - a 6-episode series in which they summarized the whole long storyline.

... I know the backstory and the building AND the explosion must have been fun and challenging in themselves; however, it's the lettering that blows my mind. As well as the scaffolding supports. Sheer brilliance!
Thank you, Matt. I'm glad that just like you so many people like the lettering, because that was the basic idea for this MOC. Believe it or not, the explosion was a 'last minute decision'.
Awesome, once again! I'll be glad to see these coming out more often (hopefully?) since you've finished Arkham. Well done, as always, Mr.X! I always loved Spidey, (Still do :P ) and the hood was (and is) an interesting detail, the explosion blows me away. (Pun intended)
Of course the real show-case of the moc is the lettering, and it is beautiful. :D
Over and out!
Dude, you build something like this, and you apologize for a little dust??? I can't even really see it... This is SOOOOO epic! I'm not even worthy to comment on this. 4 words... You, are, a, genius! That's all I gotta say lol your stuff never disappoints :D I can't wait for more! And I'm sure you've been asked this before, but what do you think of the Amazing Spider-man in comparison to the earlier trilogy with Toby Maguire as Spider-man?
I love the lettering on the building and the way you depict the explosion is just genius . Im also lovin the way you made the frame work that holds the letters . Vulture looks amazing . I'm not at all familiar with Scarlet Spider-Man I'll have to check that out ,but the fig looks awesome and both hoods look great . Most impressive!
I am a fontaholic. More to the point, I am a fan of certain letters in specific fonts. The "D" and "g" are truly works of art in the Gothic text. These letters do them one more. Complete mastery of the lettering Xeno, just pure gorgeous oozing from each letter. I know the backstory and the building AND the explosion must have been fun and challenging in themselves; however, it's the lettering that blows my mind. As well as the scaffolding supports. Sheer brilliance!
