You've been framed (IronMan Mk2)
Hi everyone, here is my prototype frame using the new Chima joints. At first I was skeptical but now having worked with them I can safely say they are “AWESOME” ;). I think he looks like the IronMan mk2 suit.
About this creation
Technically this frame is not as sophisticated as my usual frame which uses the technic pneumatic T joints. My usual frame allows for studs to face in all directions so I can hide many of the unsightly studs and underside of plates which do not look right at this scale.

These new joints offer the same poseability but have greater friction strength and therefore more playability. They also allow the frame to be significantly smaller but still keeping the correct anatomical proportions. This is the prototype only so I am sure over time I can increase the size and detail.

By the way, I've seen that the legs are asymmetrical in the position, are you planning to fix that? ;)

Nicely done. This is one of the first great human archetype frames builds using the new joints. Keep up the good work. I see you have a sound grasp on muscle tone and the human figure. Great poses too.

Love your figures, Joe. This is no exception. The posability is pretty unbeatable. The shaping and proportion is dead on. Nicely done, good sir.

Quoting Chris Yee I must be tired or something, because my brain is having difficulty processing the pelvis to leg connection! Great looking frame using the new ball joints. I can't wait to have a go at them myself.
Thanks Chris, well it is early in the morning here in the UK. The pelvis is two plates (with the ball on the side) stacked one on top of the other. Therefore the legs are staggered by one plate.

Quoting Starscream Soundwave ...Its just a shame they only come in grey, otherwise some of these could have been perfect for my Iron Man. Hopefully new colours will be released before I finish it!
Agreed, the brackets and 1x2 bows are also only available in limited colours - grey and black. Hopefully new pieces and colours will soon be released. They also need to make a 1x2 plate with a ball on the end (as apposed to the side) then we will have a full set of joints/options. Can't wait to see yours :D

Quoting Yuri Fassio Very nice frame, the torso joint setd it a step above anything else I saw recently.
Thank you for noticing the torso/waist joint. I am very proud of that element especially the ‘belt’ which hides the joint. I have not seen any other figure builder use this technique. In the larger figure the belt ensures that the legs do not splay out. Luckily these new joints have more friction on their own but I included the belt because it looks better. Thanks again

Quoting sam the first Very cool, and VERY playable!! I really want those pieces! Excellent work! P.S. Nice seeing name comparisons between karate and Kung Fu - front kick is the same, as is side kick (that is a VERY high side kick - we normally ever do ones to the chins and body), but the 'backwards panther stance' is one I don't know how to spell, but it's pronounced 'no-si-comb-ee'. Cool!
Thanks Sam, There are many similar stances and strikes in Kung Fu and Karate – they are both fantastic martial arts in their own right.

Thanks guys. I built this frame in complete isolation and purposely did not use my original frame as reference. I too was surprised as to how much smaller it was. These new joints are fantastic and I am sure that as soon as the great figure builders get their hands on them we will see some amasing figures/frames. It does look like Lego Group have been watching and produced these new pieces to help us :D.

I agree with David, I also didn't realise just how much smaller it really is until I saw the comparison picture. These new pieces look fantastic, I can't wait to get my hands on a few of them. This figure you've created is very cool too, and I agree that it indeed bears resemblance to the Mark II suit. Great stuff and thanks for sharing!

It's as though LEGO's designer were everyone's efforts at design clever, compact, articulated joints and then decided to just make the parts. The size comparison with your Iron Man is great: I hadn't realised quite how compact your new frame is at first.
