15 piece vehicle challenge - Hot air balloon
My entry for that excellent contest. Thanks Sam!
About this creation
A link to the contest

I wanted to build something nobody attempted to so far. Once again, my girlfriend had the idea (thanks!), but it appeared surprisingly difficult to do...

But once I found a way to attach the "strings", piece of cake!

The obligatory 15 piece picture :

That's it, hope you enjoyed!

Congratulations, a well deserved winner! For me it's OK with the 15 parts rule. There are only a few possible usages for the whole ball and I can't imagine many for one half only... It's like one half of a hinge and a hinge counts as one part, too.

Isnt the ball piece two pieces so you used 16 pieces.

Quoting everybody
Thank you all! Marie and I are so glad we have won this awesome challenge! In the end, there's been more fun to look at all these creations than to build it! I think many of the contestants would have deserved to be in the top 5... Congrats to all! Thanks again Sam, looking forward to the next contest!

I think C West counted the ball as two parts because it consists of two half parts. But whatever, it's a nice and well executed idea and a well deserved win. Congrats :)

Thanks! I thought of building a unicycle (with the same piece for the saddle!) but procrastination won the race... Anyway yours is fantastic and I'm pretty content with the balloon!

Quoting Dennis B This idea is amazing, but isn`t the globe actually two parts so that you got 16? But you could also leave the flame so that you got 15 pieces. Anyway I maybe should not be so strict. We were also using the driving parts. So as I said amazing and creative build and good luck.
You have an interesting point. I'd rather remove a sand bag than the flame, but you're right, it still works with a piece less. Anyway, I did some research before posting it: the part list for those star wars sets don't mention the planet itself, so I couldn't check if it counted as 1 or 2. So I referred to a rule that generally stands in these contests : if it comes in one part in the Lego box, it's one part ; wheel+tire, 4x4 turntable... star wars planet! And in the end, it's not that important, right? ;-)

I hate your girlfriend. She gave you the idea. Now, like I have seen, you might be cutting it close with 16 pieces if that globe doesn't count as one piece. However, it is very impressive and a great design, and you still earn my like.
