"Ramming Speed!"
The infamous Delta Tau Chi Deathmobile, built at Miniland scale.
About this creation
One of the greatest movie vehicles ever from one of the greatest movies ever -- the Delta Tau Chi Deathmoble from National Lampoon's "Animal House". Without a doubt, the most bad-ass Lincoln Continental ever. In this scene, we have Bluto opening the hatch and getting ready to begin plundering, while D-Day (in the driver's seat inside) revs the engine on his final approach to ram the grandstand.

I can almost hear Dean Wormer's voice now: "I hate those guys."

I realized after I finished building this model that the turret is a little small compared to the movie version. I was working primarily from a version of the Deathmobile that had been created independently after the movie, and there were apparently some discrepancies in some of the features.

This MOC has now been blogged by Bricknerd.

Quoting XY EZ Is it an entry for motoring march? 8-)
No. I uploaded to the group erroneously -- it's not an original design.

Quoting matt rowntRee Congrats Matt! You got blogged. http://bricknerd.com/home/the-death-mobile-26-2014
Thanks. Yes, I saw that. GeekyTom's comment over on Flickr tipped me off. If your Space Shuttle launch forced perspective MOC doesn't get some love from one of the blogs, then there is something wrong with the system. That's one of the best things I've seen in a long time.

Quoting clayton Marchetti Ha ha this is great! The teeth look awesome. I like how you did the lettering very clever. Pathetic pin-striping looks fantastic. Excellent work!
Thanks! The lettering took a little thought. I realized pretty early on that trying to do it simply with plates and bricks would be next to impossible on a curved surface, at least at this scale. I was thinking of creating an "E*t Me" cake for the Deathmobile to pop out of, but the trouble I had with some of the details on the car convinced me that it might be too much effort.

Quoting sam the first Beautiful work!! p.s. what colour are the wheels? Silver metallic wasn't that shiny when I rendered mine...
Thanks. The wheels are "metalized silver", which works better for things that you want to look like chrome. I use "silver metallic" for things that I want to look like steel.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 instant recog! I watched the movie about a month ago, it s still funny! you did a great reproduction job, bravo!
Thanks. I have probably seen "Animal House" 30 or 40 times. At one point, I could almost recite every line in the entire movie. It's one of those movies you never get tired of.

Quoting matt rowntRee YES! That's brilliant! AND you even got Bluto in there. One of my all time favorite movies. Classic. Just watch out for Neidermeyer. ;) Perfectly awesome!
Thanks. Bluto was an absolute requirement. I was thinking of building the "Eat Me" cake shell to go around the Deathmobile as well, but after the headaches I had creating the "DTX" writing on the side of the turret, I decided to quit while I was ahead.

Quoting El Barto ! Awesome! What a great thing to build! Surprised I haven's seen one before, now that I think of it. Well done!
Thanks. Yes, I was surprised that there hasn't been a LEGO Deathmobile yet as well (at least not as far as I know). It is a real classic.

Quoting Stephan N What a vehicle that are awsome details. The teeth look real scary. Just wonderful your idea
Thanks. The teeth may have been the detail that took me the longest time to create. I must have gone through about a dozen iterations before I finally settled on this version. I wanted to make sure that they looked ferocious enough for the Deathmobile.
