Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I posted anything. Now that Im on spring break this week, I will try to post as much as I can before returning to school. Anyway, hope you enjoy.
About this creation
This is actually the third of 5 consecutive gundam themed builds I have been doing for the past 6 months. I probably wont be able to do more until summer, so I'm scrambling to do what I can.
In a way, this one is more of a prototype than a serious gundam. (I apologize for the name, since it never really had one until I posted this). I was experimenting with different frame ideas and trying to get as much of the fundamental features of a gundam as possible.
The chaingun apparatus is a last minute thing that I did. Didn't really work the way I imagined it.
You can still see some AEGAKS inspired design in the legs, nice and chunky without much shape. The feet are not very gundam-like either.
Wielding a very chunky rifle (This gun appears in my other mocs, if ur interested).
One of the cooler features of this guy are the dual machine pistols attached to its rear-skirt thing. And a view of the bare upper back with power cells (if gundams even have those).
Wielding the pistols. Now the best part of the mech by far is the torso section. This is a copy of the torso on my second mech, which is yet to be posted (hopefully this week). It definitely gives an armored look to the mech. I apologize for not including cockpit pics, but I will be sure to post them on my next post, which uses the same exact design.
I promise you there is a minifig in there, you just gotta trust me on this one.
Now you can see my attempt to create a functioning side skirt, which actually works quite well...for a bionicle maybe... The hip joint is suprisingly sturdy, and I may improve on the design when I rebuild this guy from scratch.
Probably the ugliest guns you've ever seen. My weapon making skills are in need of honing.
Would you believe me if I said the head used to look worse than this? Problem is it's still ugly. I was attempting to go for a more gundam-style head, and this is what came out. It still adheres to the core design made by Mr. Thomas Z.
This is as far as it can bend it's knees. Despite that, it still looks pretty good. One necessary component I have added to all of these mechs are beam sabers. I also have one for an old friend of mine.
Sapphire is back! And wielding a red beam saber to match it's visor color!
Now, in my opinion, I think if you can pose your mechs in a position like this without any support, I think you have acheived good if not decent poseability.
another angle (RX 2 has a "super" beam saber. I heard about this concept and thought it was a cool idea).
Ok, this guy was only a prototype. I plan to one day (hopefully soon) to take him apart and try some techniques I have been seeing around the pages, which I will be sure to mention if it ever happens. I hope to post some more this week, so stay tuned and thanks for looking!!! Peace.
