Parts: The parts are very new for the most part. There are the new 1/4 saucer pieces, which are good but they have no reverse piece to fit over for a more complete-looking saucer. There are new leaf-shaped flap pieces which are cool. There is an alien transport sled, which is a redesign of the Life on Mars "hypersled". There are also lots of non-new parts in new colors. There are 4 orange small space wheels, a V-wing canopy in dark orange, and dino tails in lime green.
The minifigs include two aliens and an astronaut. When I put the minifig together, I put it together so fast that I did not notice the face. When I lifted the GOLD VISOR(woot!) I saw a familiar face: Dash from Alpha Team III. I was estatic. As you might remember, I expressed my joy at the Dash fig.
The saucer thing is really well designed. The front section opens and closes to show or hide the weaponry. The need to hide the guns is beyond me, but it is still a cool feature. The alien is unfortunately not secured prooperly which is a little bit bothersome but I can deal with it.
The Rover is pretty basic but still cool. The drill arm is made out of a bionicle drill and a click-hinge arm. The cockpit falls forward a lot but this is easily fixed with three plates attached to the undercarriage. The rover's back cargo area carries the alien sled, which I like. Both models are very well designed. I look forward to more of Mars Mission.
