About this creation

A sneak peek at the Hot Gates from the movie "300". This will be populated with the requisite 300 Spartans and 300 Immortals in an epic battle. About 230lbs, 44" deep, 70" wide, and 27" high at its peak. Look for pics from Brickworld 2014, Chicago for the completed diorama.

Currently set up at this stage for the Yellowhead Regional Arts Festival in Hinton, Alberta.

There is also a plexiglass case currently under construction to protect the display and figures while it is set up in Chicago.

In addition, the 'water' out front will be expanded to cover the entire of the width of the display. An error on my part, and as this is the first time I have seen it set up due to space limitation, it is a forgivable one.

Nope, sorry. The water oversight is unforgivable. For shame sir, for shame... (see ya next month!) ~ Chris.

That's just plain sick! I keep having to look at it just to grasp the level of detail and, above all, consistency. Highly impressive and deserving of an Ennis & Gunn. ;) Can't wait to see it at BW. THIS IS AWESOME!

Woah... nice! It's great how you maintained the same level of detail in the rockwork throughout the build.

300. Making men feel out of shape all over the world. This is turning out nicely. Can't wait until it's done.

Truly fantastic job on the rock work, it looks amazing. I'm actually headed up to Chicago during the weekend of Brickworld, so hopefully I will be able to swing by and see this beauty for myself!

An impressive display of artistry and scale! Looking forward to seeing the soldiers massed at the gates, ready to burst through that tight opening...

Looks even better on MOCpages's black background, really looking forward to seeing this progress. Think you'll take it around to shows for multiple years, or will it be a one-hit wonder? Mark - More likely something about going 44 inches deep into the hot gates...

There's an innuendo in here somewhere about having huge stones, but I couldn't quite put it together. Oh, well...Looking pretty sweet, Lee!
