100 PBBFC : Lucky Luke
The man who shoots faster than his shadow!
About this creation
My entry for the VERY challenging 100 Piece Brick Built Figure Contest.

Lucky Luke is a famous comics hero in France and Belgium. He's a nonchalant tall guy with bow legs, and that's what I've been trying to capture here.

Originally created in 1947 by belgian cartoonist Morris, Luke stopped smoking in the 80's and since then, chews a twig. Here are 2 reference pictures in case he's not that famous in your country ;-)

The first one is the iconic image of Luke shooting "faster than his shadow", the second one is an older design (with the cigarette) and the pose I chose for the figure.

Some more pics:

And of course :

As you may have noticed, I used 3 of the mystery pieces : 2 hoses (hair), 2 bananas (shirt/hips) and 1 oxygen tank (scarf knot). And may I say that I'm very proud having managed to include a gun part as part of the gun :-)

Thanks everyone for watching and a big thank you to the judges for this amazing contest!
See ya!

Looks nice. I like the inclusion of the twig in the mouth. The pose is a little odd but everything else is great. The tubing as hair is great.

Notre cow-boy sur MocPages!! Incroyable!! C'est vrai que c'est typiquement notre culture Franco-Belge. Brilliant entry anyway and brilliant tribute. The way you built the silhouette with simple parts is very smart. NPU indeed.

The build of the contest for me. From the tips of his boots, to the rim of his hat, just perfect. Looks like he could have his own TV series. Made me smile from ear to ear the minute I saw him!

Quoting Cheryl P Congratulations for winning first. Your creation was my personal favorite. Actually the Lady in Red and Black had the "Hots" for Luke.
I can guess what the "Hots" mean... The Lady can meet Luke at Nothing Gulch's saloon tonight and have a glass of sarsaparilla, yup! (Luke will have a beer)

That means a lot, thank you very much Matt!

Quoting matt rowntRee When I look at this, my only critique is that you should have used the white minifig heads at the top of the boots instead of the 1X1 round bricks and you should have added a black 4X4 round plate for his hat band. AND THAT’S IT!!! That is also me getting extremely nitpicking on a masterpiece. Did you have innovative part usage? Yup. Did you capture the character? Yessum. Did you realize your aesthetic vision? Uh, huh. This guy oozes pure fantastic. From the flowing hair to the spurs, he is amazing. I think the one element that outshines everything here is the lanky arms. There is no piece more perfect for this in that it defines his character and ready to draw faster than his shadow. (Love that.) This is something that all of us as contestants and judges can be proud to be associated with. You have managed to create an established character and add your own flair to him seamlessly. I see that the economy of parts and the three Mystery Pieces didn’t in any way hold back from fully realizing this wonderful work of Art! Well beyond outstanding! A winner in fact! Congratulations Tom!
WHITE MINIFIG HEADS! AND I HAVE AT LEAST 2 OF THEM! I should have thought of it, now I only deserve your contempt... Seriously, genius idea, I wanted to use a travis with 4 1x1 tiles but that proved too much piece-consuming. White head! About the black band, Marie suggested it but I was lazy rebuilding the torso with a structure piece less, although I think it would have worked... And also lazy lighting, taking photos and editing :-P Thanks a lot for this incredibly praiseful comment, and for the killer score! Count on me next year! See you in the winners' group...

Quoting Tim C Well, I have to admit, I'm not familiar with Lucky Luke. I thought it was Woody with a white hat. But despite what I thought it was, this is just a wonderful MOC. It's the perfect 100, (and 2), piece figure. Everything comes together perfectly and there didn't seem to be any sacrifice you had to make to bring it to fruition. Has to be a front runner. Really excellent work and best of luck in the contest.
Thanks a lot Tim! That's a very cool comment!
