Quoting Halhi 141 Ask and thou shalt receive.... Anyway, this is a nice MOC overall. I'll split the analysis into two sections: the landscaping and the tower.
Ya know, Your comments help a lot. I'm happy to hear that you like it, and grateful for the tips too! Thanks, man! :D

Ask and thou shalt receive.... Anyway, this is a nice MOC overall. I'll split the analysis into two sections: the landscaping and the tower.
Quoting The Landscaping
The first thing that catches my eye here is the cobblestone path. Nicely done on that, although maybe that 1x2 tiles don't really fit in. Also, maybe a few studs would be nice. Continuing on, you have a good idea with the green tiles, but I think it doesn't really work; unless it's not a path, just him trampling through some plants (in which green plates would be better), dark tan plates would be a better choice. The bamboo leaves in the corner break up the monotonous height, but they seem out of place in such an environment. I also noticed the flowers, which look great...but more would be nice to add color. My final two critiques are this: first, the elevation could use more change, and second, a tree or two would fit in nicely. However, the foliage is generally quite good.
Quoting The Tower
I'll approach this from the ground up. The wooden base was definitely a welcome surprise, although I'm not sure how it fits structurally, I guess you'd have to consult Gilbert for that. The steps are pretty fantastic. The doorway, too, is excellent and fits in the overall design really well. Moving up, the shield looks nice and adds a touch of detail, but a bit of repetition (more shields, maybe inset into the wall) would be better. Same with the chain. That row of tiles and the slopes look great and add a bit of interesting architecture that's lacking in the rest of the tower. The top is probably my least favorite bit; it's too obviously hollow (a floor would do wonders) and some battlements would add a lot. My next advice is the textures - generally, stone textures work best with horizontal rectangles, generally with proportions similar to a 1x2 tile or brick. I won't give any exact techniques, since I'm currently trying to develop some new techniques in regards to texturing (well, new techniques everywhere actually - I'm basically reinventing the wheel), but just do some experimenting. The dark tan is also a bit distracting since all the pieces in this color are studded. Finally, some more interesting shaping or techniques on the tower would do wonders. Despite what I said, this is a great, eye-catching MOC that convinced me to check it out several times before finally leaving a comment. Nice work! :)

Quoting A SwordFish Fantastic tower! I love the landscaping and the stairs are pretty neat too. The only complaint I have is that I would've like to see more pictures, like close ups and what not. Other than that though, great build.
I had 1 close up of the stairs, but it REFUSED to upload. I don't know why...

Quoting ~ Brick Neat. The wood on the bottom of the tower looks kinda strange, and the texturing is a little messy. Still, nice to see you building again! :D

Nice one, Matt! The matted down grass effect works pretty good. Sweet stairs and textures as well! I think it'd overall be more complete with an interior, though. :)

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head Personally I like the busy-ness of the tower. It strikes me as something that would be built by non-humans, like gnolls or minotaurs or something. It could have used some "dark bley," though.
Ha Ha, yeah...lol

Quoting Stephen Boe Nice work! The textures pretty good, but I think it could use sone dark bley on the walls. I also have a couple nitpicks about the photos. Did you take them inside, because the actual moc looks too dark and then there's all the bright white around it and looks kinda weird. But the moc itself is still auite nice.

Nice work! You could put it into LOM as a freebuild, you know. That way more people will see it, and It deserves some more attention. ;)

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga What do I think? Well, the tower has fairly good texturing but it seems too messy to me. You have lots of textures, colors, adn angles on the outside, which look pretty nice. However, the inside layer doesn't have any of that texturing, and where it shows in between the plates, it's a simple square. I think if you had either varied the heights of the plates with some headlight bricks or added some jagged holes in the inner layer of stone, the tower would look better. However, the landscaping is decent, and the foundation and the stairs are both pretty nice. Overall, good work. Also, why not for LOM? Are you not interested in building for it or being a mod?
Well...I dunno...I'm still building for LOM just not this one...it may have been that I just wanted to use tan figs...I've just been lazy lately, but I'll get active and get to be a mod again...soon...
