Unusual Suspects
About this creation
Hi. Just experimenting with some minifig heads to create a 1:30 scale figure for a large build I am working on.

As we all know minifigs are completely out of scale to real humans. Their heads and utensils are approximately 1:30 so I thought I would make longer and leaner bodies to match. These figures are 8 studs (20 plates) tall which equates to approximately 6ft.

80s power dressing. Check out those shoulder pads.

My Family

Size comparison with minifigs

Samurai Guy

Manga figs with over-sized feet and shoulders.

MortalSwordsman

MortalSwordsman

Hope you like them, I think the possibilities are endless so why don't you guys have a go at building some of your own 1:30 figs. They fit perfectly with 8 wide cars too... watch this space for an 8 wide car soon.

That is excellent!! Love the concept and the contrast with minifigs brings lots of opportunities. The suit and tie is terrible! Waiting for your 8 studs wide car.

Ohhh, I love these. These are the best fan made lego figs I have ever seen and I Will defiantly be using the scale in the future. Wonderful job!

Hi Joe! Excellent build! Sorry for the late comment at this time! 1st Manga fig - cool secret DrangonBall figure, 2nd Manga fig - cool creation but I think your hair is a little bit shorter, 80s power dressing - Man figure - the tie is brilliant the dress is great, 80s power dressing - Woman figure - creative dress, Samurai - great figure, but MortalSwordsman is more powerful! :-) Hard to find which is the best but I think the Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top) I'd be so happy if You could build an American football player too! I'dont have the right pieces for that! My favourite team is the Chicago Bears!

So much more convincing than a Minifig... it's surprising just how out of scale the standard guys are. A top idea, and nicely done.

Great idea to create mini figures in scala 1:30. But the shoulder pads was, in my opinion, never a hit. :-) I think the Manga figures with hands are the best.

This is such an interesting scale. I wonder what a CS spaceman would look like? See how long it took me to go there .

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really can't decide which version (with or without hands) I prefer so it is great to hear your thoughts. Personally I prefer the simplistic style and proportion of the ones without hands (reminiscent of the very first minifigs without hands) but the Manga Style ones (with hands) are more fun looking...

Great work of Lego creationism! The "Unusual" builds that you do floor me! LOL I think I agree that the figures having "hands" look better.

Neat figs! I just bought a couple of mixels and in the #41517 set there are bar pieces with clips that perhaps may work as a hand/arm for a thinner shouldered fig? These bar clips are also used on the new ninja turtles spider character fig. :)

Quoting Elk Guard Nice job, the ones with hands look better though. :)
Thanks Elk that is good to know. The only prob with the hands is that it makes them 2 plates wider. The Manga style figs can carry it off but the lady in red and the suit guy look too chunky with hands/arms.

Quoting clayton Marchetti These are really cool. I'm thinking these would be great for 8-wide cars. I like the mortal swordsman. The husband and wife with the kids is really clever. Awesome!
Thanks mate. They are spot on for 8 or 9 wide cars, that was the inspiration behind building them. From memory your dukes and kitt were 8 wide...

Quoting Cheryl P Cool. This is something Topsie would do too. I just can't bring myself to breaking apart the figs to make them look different. For now the picture of my 2 Dancers is right next to yours. They should step right on over and join the lineup. Of course, they are taller.
