My House
This is my house. Right off the bat I will mention two things. First, the lot my house is on is almost an acre and has an abundance of very tall evergreen trees, far too much to try and produce in Lego. Secondly, I have no intention of posting a picture of my real house, this is a privacy thing. I started this build about four months ago. I decided to build my house because I thought it would be fun for my kids. It's roughly to scale but there are obvious exceptions, one being that the exterior walls are two blocks thick. I don't know exactly how much this weighs, I tried to put it on a scale but it's too big and awkward, I'm guessing somewhere around 30 pounds. It's 90 studs wide and 84 studs deep and the base is three plates and a brick thick. Things that went well: - Plants: I'm happy with all my landscaping, it is a fairly accurate representation of what's in the yard. Special thanks to the folks at iBrick for the tutorial on the Falworth tree. And yes, my lot is really that flat. - Driveway: My real driveway is mostly gravel, I am pretty happy with the technique I used here for gravel. - The espresso maker and the drill press. It's difficult to see the espresso maker in the kitchen but it turned out great. Yes, that is a pistol being used at the steam froth thingy on the side of the espresso maker. The drill press is also difficult to see, but it turned out well. - Fire in the fireplace. I thought this was a nice touch. - The beds also turned out nice. Things I am not so happy with: - The doors: There is a horrible selection of Lego doors that can be used for interior doors in a house. So I ended up with what you see here, which are not a very good option. - Garage doors: I really wanted to use the Lego garage doors, the ones that roll up but they are just too expensive. So, I faked up the garage doors. - The roof: While the roof itself doesn't look bad there is a big open seem going down the middle of each peak. Also, the pitch of the roof over the garage is different than the pitch on the highest roof. Bummer. Anyhow, I hope you like it.

Hey Dustin, thats a really nice and superb detailed house. Love the exterior and the interior of it. A pic of your real house would be great but i can understand it well if you won't show it here due to privacy things. <--- Ahh okay, read it just in this moment in your description ;) LOL. Great work, it's a beautiful house. :)

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 superb house! I find it funny you should find lego garage doors expensive after seeing this big house which is supposed to be your own, looking at this, I d expect that you could afford it, great job in and out of this house!
Well, yes, technically I have the money and I'm sure you do to. But to get the sliding garage door pieces and the grooved track pieces that go with it would have cost about $30. That's a bit much in my opinion.

Thanks. But the Legos are actually kept in the big brown cabinet next to the work bench in the garage.

What a tremendous build. We've often thought about building replica homes and have never taken the plunge. Love the garage and the exterior details.
