Home Improvements
Lately I've been tinkering with little plastic houses, while my real one continues to cry out for attention....
About this creation

First, an old moc. It's of the Schroder House, built in Utrecht, Netherlands by Gerrit Rietveld in 1924. A model I'm still proud of, despite making it ages ago. It was the first build where I really made proper use of all the brick / plate / stud ratios.

The only thing that made it look old was the garden. Now hopefully the landscape doesn't let the side down...

... apart from that tree, perhaps... where's LukeClarenceVan when you need him ?

The house is unchanged. See more details of it here; Just ignore the garden...

More garden improvements than home improvements, then. Who titled this post ?

Moving on, some car improvements...

It's an 11 wide Willys MB Jeep, now in a fitting colour and a few rough edges smoothed off.

It's a complete rebuild; the differences are small, but they make all the, er... difference.

Technically, still with the full suite of 'supercar' functions; but now with smoother steering and a detent for the transmission. No more jumping out of gear.

It still rolls in corners...

Spot the difference!

It's been a long time ambition of mine to build a house fit for a maxifig; meaning around two and a half times minifig scale. I tried to make properly detailed brickwork as small as possible and came up with this:

Still way too big. A house made with those would need to be around 5x minifig scale. And I would need thousands of tiles and jumper plates....

Back to the drawing board. Never mind the bricks, feel the stucco!

This will be a four storey high Georgian town house when it's done, of the sort you'll find all over London.

More home creation than home improvements, then... thanks for watching!

Awesome detail Nick. That Georgian is astounding, love the diamond floor pattern and the blue wall accents. Clever way to build a curtain wall and an interior to keep the color variance. Truly complex and outstanding!

Nick, nice improvements all around! What's that term real estate agents use in the US... 'curb appeal'! Yes, the new landscaping does give the old girl 'curb appeal'! And, I did 'feel' the stucco, of which the window arches are nice too! :)

Awesome work Nick! The first house looks amazing , I like all the snot technique used on the roof. The jeep is just perfect! I love the grill and the way you made the rear wheel arches is genius . I always liked those tires , and there a perfect choice for this scale. The big house is coming along beautifully. I like the brick work you came up with , very clever.

Cool creations and advanced techniques all around. While generally I'm not partial to car MOCs, yours never fail to impress. The interiors of your maxi-figure house are wonderful. If I ever, somehow, become a maxi-figure, I'll have to see if you have anything for rent (probably I'll have to jump on the keys to type, so forgive my poor grammar in advance).

Quoting Cheryl P Love your home improvements. Nice cars too. Can't wait to see the Georgian house completion. I'm partial to house builds, but unfortunately they don't get enough respect on Mocpages. Builders have no idea the planning required to make both the interiors and exteriors to work together.
Yep, they are not just piles of bricks are they ? I'm probably investing as much thought here as I do in a complex large car build. Thanks Cheryl.

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Hi Nick, Ok the Schroder house is looking as good as ever and the new garden really sets it of well. The Jeep is well er… … a SuperJeep. The Georgian house is looking absolutely fantastic – the lintel details are brilliant and so is the top of the windows. Interior is looking fabulous too especially the checked floor and panelling.
Thanks Joe. My table at STEAM might be distinctly house-y this year...

Quoting Henrik Jensen Great to see what you are working on at the moment. The Schroder house is still marvelous, and the jeep has been given a good Wheeler Dealer treatment, the tan color is so much better. The new Maxifig house looks promising, the checkerboard floor is really brilliant.
If I sell it for £1 more than the cost of the bricks without factoring in 10 hours of labour does that count as a profit ...? ;-) Thanks Henrik.

I do not know if you ever knew of or have seen any of our beloved HEATHER BRAATEN's work, she past on, I looked at the entryway and she came to mind! It is so pleasing to see the new generation has picked up from the last! As you know Nick besides us sharing the same name I am a fan of yours!
