Hi everyone. This is the first part of my monthly mission. The second part will be posted eventually, when I get time. I am up in the mountains for the next 6 days, so I will do what I can. I experimented with a comic strip format, so tell me if you dig it. Also, the title pic is a teaser from Part 2, so stay tuned!

Intermediary 4th wall: I begin part 2 in a similar way to my other storyline mocs, so please be patient as I gradually add more pics and story. I will leave some pictures unedited partly for convenience and partly to display how I shot my photos. Hope you like it!

Narrator: A few days later, Lakkawn was given another Rahi hunting mission, this time, looking for a rare species of bird Rahi called a Magma Hawk. A rich Ta-matoran wanted the bird as a pet to add to his collection of native Rahi. What was different about this hunt was that this bird is so rare, that it is guarded by a fierce dragon, that will slay anyone who goes near. According to the local residents, matoran who get lost in the volcanic wilderness are killed by this beast. Finally, Lakkawn had something to fight! He decided not to take his young cadets along, but instead turned to one of his fellow officers, Manu the Northern Ace, for assistance. He needed his expertise in the air to help him locate the lair of the bird and maybe it's protector as well.

Lakkawn: Thanks for helping out with this Manu.

Manu: No problem! I would take reconnaissance work over the front lines any day!

Lakkawn: You're as soft hearted as usual!

Manu: Hey, I'm doing you a favor for upgrading my flight pack! And I know you hate the war as much as anyone, your just too proud to admit it.

image

Narrator: It did not take more than a couple of hours for Manu to find the bird's nest. It was located on a cliff in a place called The Valley of the Void, deemed by Ta-Nambians as cursed, for no one has ever seen its bottom. Manu relayed the coordinates, and then returned to base.

Lakkawn: Now I can try out MY new wings!
(Takes off flying low to ground at high speed)

Narrator: the volcanic mountains around Ta Nambu are treacherous and mostly barren of plant life save the small patches of brush and chaparral dotting the rocky terrain. Lakkawn was speeding along when something on a distant hill caught his eye. Zooming in with his binocular vision, he saw a strange matoran sleeping against a rock. He thought he had better warn him of the dangers of sleeping in the middle of the wilderness. As he approached, the matoran awoke and stretched as if he was in his own house!

Lakkawn: Excuse me sir? It's not safe to be out he in the mountains all alone.

?????: Well young one, I could tell you the same thing.

Lakkawn: I'm with the military sir. I am equipped to handle dangerous situations.

?????: Well I'm equipped too, sonny! ( points to his ancient looking staff)

Lakkawn: I don't think that will help you against any Rahi.

?????: Well, I've lived as a bandit on this land for centuries, and I seem to do just fine! I let nature help me and I help preserve it in return.

Lakkawn: That's nice sir, but I have to go find a bird. After that, I will come back and escort you back to the village. (Turns and starts to leave)

?????: If what you said is true, I give you a warning, young soldier. Where you are going, I pray you reconsider venturing there. It is a place of darkness and powers not to be seen or revealed, and going there means certain death. But if you must, may Mata Nui protect you!

Narrator: Lakkawn turned to question the old matoran, but he had vanished, as if into thin air. Now Lakkawn was not a superstitious matoran, but he could not explain what just happened, and that bothered him deeply. Using every visor and sensor in his arsenal, he desperately searched in vain for the mysterious matoran, but to no avail. Thus, he quickly resumed his journey, thinking that the sooner this mission was over, the better off he would be.

Quoting Toa Chains This is excellent! The editing was well done and the actual builds were quite good! I only have three problems and those are that there could have been a overview of all the matoran (but you might be saving that for part 2), sometimes it was hard to tell which order people talked in and some of the letters were cut off by the side of the box. Also I really like this comic format! Overall a very great creation and I'm very excited for part 2!
Thank you! And yes, you guessed correctly. Part 2 will be adding more characters, so I won't do overviews until the end. I see what you mean about the diolouge bubbles. The sizes and shapes of the photos determined their places on each page, so that couldn't be helped too much. Part 2 will be in a more standard format, since the comic thing was so time consuming. I'm glad you liked it!

Quoting Toa Gigavolt Dude, how on earth did you make that comic book format? It really brought it all together. Also, the hunting squad looks awesome! All around, awesome.
Thank you. The format comes from a comic maker app on my I pad. It was hard enough to complete this with everything on my iPad, let alone if I had had to transfer to multiple computers! I don't think I will be doing it again, at least not for part 2, which will take enough time as it is.

Fantastic job all around. The Matoran builds are nice and solid, as is the build of the Rahi. The editing was fantastic. Story was great. You have put a lot of effort into the mission. I look forward to seeing what you do next. Score: 10 TA points.
