Battlestar Auriga - WIP 01
My newest project - the Guardian Auriga from Battlestar Galactica. I don't know any of the series, so i also don't know if this ship is only a concept of somebody...? But the shape and interesting different parts of it are the reasons why i choose this ship to built.
About this creation
For the hole thingy is planed 200 studs in length and 70 studs wide... So there will be many bricks needed ;-) Let's se what i can handle with my collection and what is needed to order...

That's my challenge:

Here the first shots of it ;-)

For the engines i plan lights in it... ;-) As for the front hangar "floorlights" (Sorry - i don'T know what's these are in english...)

I'm really happy, that i get the round part exactly in the middle over my grid :-)

any critc and ideas are welcome ;-) !
Hope you like it...

I just love framework MOCs :) If I may ask, can you put some internal contains on that framework? Despite battlestars are indeed my most favorite MOCs ever, I would like to see a ship with full internal details, as corridors, reactors, crew quarters and so on. I dont know if it is possible, but I think you have the talent needed for this kind of challenge. great job! 5/5

Beeindruckend !!! ich hoffe bald mehr von dem Schiff zu sehen, das Orginal ist ein sehr schönes Schiff und ich habe keine Zweifel an deinen Fähigkeiten zur Umsetzung.

Nice! It's inspired me to rebuild my TOS Enterprise frame. Maybe that's all the difference. Generally I work on sections individually and try to figure out how to connect them. Hrm....

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head Holy Crap! I think one (or both) of us are on drugs-did you say 200 stud ship!? All I can say about the project so far is that it looks both great and mind-boggling, and that someday I hope to steal your "round section" understructure if I have the skills and the balls to attempt something even half this size. May the force be with you!
Thank you ;-) i take the force and hope to redesign the front-curve, which is totally difficult for me to get right the narrowing nose with the curve...

More oodles of genius at work here. As usual I can't knock your ships for strength, that frame looks mad spiffy.

Quoting Tim C I'm with Matt. For complete accuracy you may want to slope that front end a little further back, but it is nit-picky. This is looking really awesome otherwise. I'll be interested to see how you work out that navy blue stripe in the front and the internal greebling. Not to mention forming the hull around that giant reactor. I see a lot of wedge plates in your future. Can't wait to see this thing realized.
Thanks Tim ! be sure - grey isn't my colour... ;-) At the moment i don't have planed how to do the hull arround the reactor (there are only some ideas;-) ) And i hope to realize this 3.rd big project !

Quoting clayton Marchetti Wow! Ive always wanted to see a Battlestar being built to see how one tackles the inside structure. Very fascinating. El Barto would be able to tell you if this was in the series or not. Looks awesome can't wait to see more wips!
Thank you ! - I hope Barto trips over this WIP ;-) The inner grid is i think everybodys "secret", but i like to share this with you all. Mainly to hear what other guys think of it (stability, possibilities for connections, etc.), or more what i could do better...

Quoting matt rowntRee That's a beautiful shape for a ship, I've never seen that design. Truly an impressive undertaking. Looks like you got the layout spot on. I was looking at the photo and thought the rounds were too forward but they appear to be in the right spot, it's difficult to tell without the nacelles fully formed. I would say the only area to watch out would be the front slope on the top. Depending on the pieces you use for getting the top curve, the break angle might be to soon. Keep an eye on the profile there. That's really getting nitpicky of me, but that's really the only thing I see as an issue. I can't wait to see this fully realized. Keep up the WIPs, hope that helps a bit. Good luck!
Thanks Matt! your tipp is good. I have different layouts found of this ship - so i could create a grid over it, plott it and measure measure measure... the front's curve is o.k. in my plan, but the sides with the stripes make me headscratching before i think of it... :-( BUt hey - i choose this challenge ;-) !
