Neo Victory Leo
Very articulated robot from Transformers Victory Series. He's a quad-changer and is able to transform into a winged lion, jet and a finally boots/backpack for Star Saber
About this creation
Pretext

Few years ago when I was still new in this trade, I jumped in
and make a Victory Leo (click here), and of course, Star saber (in awkward colour) too. They're some
of my most favorite Transformers character which I never able to own when I was
small.

When I looked back, I vowed to return and remake them PROPERLY. So now, this
day has come.

I first get the ball rolling by making Saber (click here), but named him as Prototype X. I thought with it's colour scheme,
some of you might have guessed him correctly. Ahh well... that design of mine
seemed odd. I was having problem building a bigger body for him to be merged
into Star Saber. He will be too damn huge to be posed correctly. So let's just
forget it. I'll make a decent Star Saber soon =)

Anyway, thanks to LEGO producing the Aqua rider theme... (sleek black and
yellow parts galore!!!). That will be a good enough reason for me to buy these
sets and make a Victory Leo out of him.

Challenges

All these while I've been relying on exo-force strong hinges for my LEGO
transformers. But they're just too big. So this time around, I am utilising a
different technique.

I insist on having most of his colour spot on! Even down to his red feet.

The actual Victory Leo  toy has a not so sleek looking jet, and I plan
to improve on that. And previously his gatling cannons below his waist are just
tricks to hide the hinges by the original toy creator. Since I have a different
transformation method for him, I have do away with those awkward positioned
cannons.

Well talking about cannons, I've put in some extra connectors to ensure the
shoulder cannons
rotates to almost all directions.

So with all the efforts put in to make his robotic. jet and lion mode to be
decent and articulate, I have to sacrifice a bit in his boots and backpack mode.
When I'm done with Star Saber soon, this Victory Leo creation will need to be
retooled to allow him to connect to form Victory Saber.

The Lion mode (Or is it a sabre tooth tiger? I'm not sure!!!)

Wow, it looks like it transforms smoothly and, in each state, it looks great. Not many others out there can say that.

This is SO cool! The animal form reminds me of Zoids, have you ever heard of that show? It's an OLD show, but it was cool. I might make a transformer/Zoid LEGO creation soon, I just need ideas!
