Imperial Class 3 Krayt Mobile Communication/Transport
An Imperial Class 3 Krayt Transport, used in the earlier days of the Empire.
About this creation
This is a Kuat Drive Yards Class 3 Krayt Mobile Communication/Transport. This was used in the early days of the Galactic Empire. This served 3 roles. This craft could transport a small contingent of troops, cargo, or could be a mobile command unit. This was replaced by the Lamda and Gamma classes of transports. Many of these were in the Rebel fleet, or used by pirate fleets. That being said, this was a pain in the butt to build, and I plan on destroying it now. I used some interesting techniques on the cockpit area, see if you can make it out!

A head-on view.

The cockpit of the Krayt Transport required 2 pilots, due to the bulkiness of this craft.

This particular mission crew. The Krayt could carry up to 20 troopers and their gear. This particular mission called for a small contingent for an extraction role, so more troopers were to be picked up. It may be hard to see, but this features a working ramp, with a semi hidden mechanism to turn the gears to lower the boarding ramp.

The ship-to-ship docking opening for inspoection. Also shown is the heavy quad cannons used to cover the boarding ramp during missions.

The docking ring hatch fully open.

I decided to take 2 shots of the engines. This is with flash, obviously. The main problem with these ships is that for all the engines, they moved like a bantha, ie, very slowly, and were very hard to manuever.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket The non-flash picture of the engines.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket The foward hatch is reserved explicitly for high ranking Imperial officials. That being said, not many people get to use it.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket A basic look at the armaments. Up front flanking the cockpit are 2 pair of small turbolasers. Up top is the main turbolaser battery, and ion cannons aft. The cylindrical projections on the port side can be equipped with various munitions or additional weaponry. Also flanking the cockpit are the sensor arrays. On the port side are the long distance communication and command array. On the starboard side is the oversized jamming dish, much like the Millennium Falcon. Maybe that's where Han got one...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket An interior view of the modular layout. Again, equipped for light transport. To the right you can just make out the ramp and mechanisms.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket The ladder up to the flight deck. You can also make out the communication array as well.

Quoting Mandalore The Ultimate The Empire would have a reserved entry for senior officers. Love the Engines! The name suits the ship as well.
Thanks! I did this one when I was first reentering Lego!

Cool, my favorite part of your ship is the way the neck/bridge is elevated and the body is much bigger, definately looks like a troop transport/freighter. Interior is very roomy. Engine greebles are good. One thing though, I think it would look a bit more stream-lined if you removed one or two of the cannons on the dorsal side of the ship, and maybe replaced them with a more flat turret. Other than that, looks great. The cannons ("miniguns"?) on the left and right side of the body near the cockpit look great.
