SS Venture
The tramp steamer from Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong
About this creation

The portholes on the lower deck of the superstructure. In the film this is where the galley is.

The red port light and a life buoy on the upper superstructure

The SS Venture was the tramp steamer depicted in the 2005 remake of King Kong. Built in the 1880s the steamer sails to the South Pacific and the jungles of central Africa and Asia to capture exotic animals and take them back to New York so they can perform in the circus or the zoo. In the 2005 remake the Venture is used by Carl Denham to transport his cast and crew to Skull Island so for the price of 'a nickel people can see the last blank space on the map'.

The Lego version of the Venture is just over two feet in length and has lights in the superstrucutre. Apart from some missing handrails on the rear deck the ship is complete. Here it is depicted in the fog as it nears Skull Island. Reviews are appreciated.

As asked in most of the reviews here is the link to pictures of the Venture without the fog:

Awsome, it does look better without the fog. I made a minifig venture, but is not as accurate as yours.

Excellent MOC! I've wanted to build a ship like this since watching King Kong. You did a great job. I esp. like the fog filled picture. Really adds to the spooky feel of the ship. This also reminds me of a Lego mystery I wrote called Ghost Ship. I used the new Harbor ship as a model. This makes a great ship for it as well. Overall, very nice.

I have seen the original ship they used for the movie,(its tied up in Wellington harbour) It looks good but hard to tell how good through the fog.

Cool, man! I always wanted to make a Venture for my King Kong Legos, but I never had enough money. Can we have a shot without the fog?

take the fog away and we can see it. On the first pic, it's ok, but we kinda want to actually see it.
