Jabba’s Palace Sail Barge Hangar
Located beneath Jabba’s sprawling Palace is the massive Sail Barge Hangar.
About this creation

I often thought to myself watching the Episode VI movie that Jabba the Hut must have had a large hangar in which to keep his Sail Barge. This thinking was confirmed when I saw the DK book “Star Wars – Complete Locations” which depicts a cut-away cross-section of Jabba’s entire palace, much of which was not seen in the actual Star Wars movie. I have adapted some of the basic concepts from the book and added ideas to create my largest MOC.

Minifigs are dwarfed in the massive hangar. The main hangar is 96 x 64 studs in size. The B’omarr monks can also be seen roaming the hangar from time to time.

Bib Fortuna enters the Hangar to supervise the arrival of Jabba’s luxurious Sail Barge after its trip to Mos Eisley to refuel and restock.

Jabba owns several Dewbacks which his guards use to patrol the immediate hills and valleys surrounding his Palace. These patrols protect against would be attackers or thieves that might try to enter the Palace.

One of the Palace guard’s quarters is located overlooking the Hanger Bay. Here guards can rest, eat and relax playing the Dejarik Hologame.

The Air-Bridge shown to the right is deployed and used to access the Sail Barge once it arrives.

Jabba has his own vehicle maintenance and service workshop located off the main Hanger which can undertake repairs of almost any nature. With many enemies and adversaries there is always a high risk that an assassination attempt could take place, so Jabba only trusts his own technicians to work on his ships and craft.

A Speeder Bike is moved from the Hangar and preparations are made for the Sail Barge to arrive.

The Sail Barge edges smoothly into the Hangar.

The Hangar Movements Marshall signals and comes on the radio to the Barge Flight Crew “That’s it… shut down engines”

The Air-Bridge is deployed to allow rapid loading / unloading and boarding of Jabba’s Sail Barge.

The Hangar Technical Service Team moves in quickly to complete arrival maintenance. The crew know everything must be perfect as Jabba does not accept or take kindly to any problems when he is onboard.

Jabba arrives at the Air-Bridge to board his Sail Barge.

Hey what a great idea you've got- i have the sailbarge and Jabba's palace and i have thinking that this would be a great idea- never built it though. I like the details and all those characters and speeder and all- i think that underground hangar should be in Battlefronts Jabba's palace map. Btw. check out my Sw-stuff please, i would appreciate that :)

I skipped over this at first, seeing the main pic thumbnail -- "Meh, more boring Star Wars," I thought. How glad I am that I came back! As soon as I saw the first pic after the main one, I knew I was in for something special.

I wish... what do I wish for? THAT MUCH TAN! Bricks, this is exellent. I'm so glad you went to the Locations book for info on Jabba's Palace, I love that series, though I rarely build things seen in the films. It would have been nice if you could have added docking stations for the smaller repulsor craft that usually act as escort to the Ketana. I agree very soundly with the previous reveiws so I'll close this one with a request. That you make the Valley of the Dark Lords from Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, and Tales of the Jedi: Golden Age of the Sith. If you haven't sold these parts already you could make some incredible Sith tombs.
