BR Class 20
LDD design of British Rail Class 20 diesel locomotive in various liveries
About this creation
So here it is, my first MOC! I've been working on this for a while now and having gone through many variations I am glad to have finally reached one I am happy with. As I'm only able to use the bricks available on LDD I have had to compromise some details I'd have liked to have included or built differently.

I have included a range of liveries to demonstrate the versatility of this model. If I were ever to purchase my own Class 20 I'd be sure to include some stickers with company logos and such because my ultimate aim is to create something as realistic as is possible.

If you enjoy these pictures please leave a comment, it's always nice to know what other people think =). Hopefully this is the first of many models, as you'll read on my homepage.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Class 20 loco, pictures can be found here. Enjoy!

Edit - Sorry for the line at the side of every picture, not entirely sure where thats come from but it appeared after uploading. Ah well...

Class 20 loco in BR Green

The interior was difficult given that the Class 20s can be driven both ways, and in real life have a driving console on either side of the cab. For my model to work in minifig scale I was only able to include one driving console, but this leaves room for a chair that can be position either forward or backward and a minifig driver

I had a job recreating the engine given that unusually it had to fit in a 2 stud wide area. Using window frames may appear odd but the engine supports are actually incredibly similar

So onto different liveries. This is the same as above (BR Green) only now with yellow ends

Class 20 in BR Blue livery. The real thing has blue painted grills and roof but these bricks weren't available in blue. Dark grey seemed the best compromise

Class 20 in BR Railfreight Grey livery. I'd probably replace the large BR logo on the side with a sticker but I thought it'd be interesting to see how it turned out in lego

Class 20 in Trainload Coal livery

Class 20 in Direct Rail Services (DRS) livery. Note the added fuel tanks on the side and modern lighting

Two DRS Class 20s in back-to-back formation as is typical for these locomotives

And a side on view

Fantastic designs. There aren't many british locos on MOCpages and this is refreshing to see. This would look excellent in real lego. Have you considered using bricklink to source the bricks you need? It is much cheaper than the official lego brick store and delivery is very quick. I'm using bricklink to source parts for a model of a class 37 that I'm buildng and it's working out quite cheap.

Looks really good so far. I think if you didn't limit yourself to Factory part you could get more detail in. I think the green looks best. Have you considered using SNOT for the cab windows?
