After making the decision to build a Lego® Miller Park model as outlined on my homepage, I did some real basic planning. To capture the most detail, I decided to make the model three feet by three feet which was the biggest model size my room could handle. Since the roof was the most complicated part of the project I started building it and decided I would make the building based on the roof footprint. After completing the un-motorized movable roof panels I realized the project was going to be very challenging. Nevertheless, I started the façade and soon realized the scale was off. Even worse, most of my bricks were used on the roof so I had few left for the building shell and its interior!
I wasn’t ready to dismiss the retractable roof concept completely so I built a simpler retractable roof stadium around my soccer field set instead with inspiration from Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix.
