This is a GE Dash-8 (40BW I think) in the Santa Fe Warbonnet paint scheme.
Some of the pieces are left-overs from the Super Chief set, which became a B-unit, thereby donating the red-framed windscreen, front sticker and chrome air horns. And that nose! This is probably about the fifth incarnation of just getting the slope how I like it, let alone the rest of the dimensions. Kudos to all who attempt it! (e.g. Seunghoon Yoo and Scott Wardlaw)
I know the scale and other sizes are not anywhere near perfect - I already rebuilt most of it when I decided to change from a generic colour scheme to the current Santa Fe, so this is where it ends! I hope in the near future to make up some decals (happy with font selection, just need to find the right clear labels available) and then will dig up some handrails for the sides.
I would love to know what you guys think - and don't just leave a rating; constructive comments are helpful for everyone to be able to improve the craft!
Idealy it would have been a bit longer but maybe it got sandwiched between two other engines.....
Virtually no SNOT in this build - I found the wedge bricks to be perfect for the front.
This shot proves I didn't just build one side, like a film set. That's dedication!
There's a tiny bit of snot on it's bum.
I quite like my steps - corner panels and 1x2 plates with stud made it easy to offset by 1/2 a stud. And a closer view of the nose. Feel free to steal it if you like it - that would be the sincerest form of flattery. Just give me credit for it. And money.
Great model. Looks pretty good for a 6-stud wide model. I have recreated one i made a while ago with LDD. Check it out on my page. Keep up the great work!
Thats great. I have tried to get the nose and the flared radiators in the back right several times and have just never gotten it right. Please review my MOCs.
