Anyway, this little guy is a robotic anti-ship laser. It walks around ground installations, away from the standard approach routes and scans the sky for enemy craft.
About this creation
This is a model I made awhile back with Star Wars Lego sets that I kept dissasembled on my desk. I had the idea of extending the standard minifig "droid" body into something bigger and weirder. MOst of these pieces are from the Y-Wing with Tie Fighter set, although the web dish is from the original Snowspeeder.
Anyway, this little guy is a robotic anti-ship laser. It walks around ground installations, away from the standard approach routes and scans the sky for enemy craft. Anyone not transmitting the proper codes gets shot down. The idea is to prevent ships which try to sneak up on a planetary defensive station by landing far off. Come to think of it, the empire could have used a few of these on the moon of Endor. Some Trade Federation versions might have helped the battle of Naboo as well.
The droid is shown here encountering a Jedi pilot. It would typically just stomp on small life forms such as this (note the feet) but the glow of the lightsaber is disrupting its vision sensors. It has a pair of rotating "eyes", mostly for naviagtional purposes and manuvering around rough terrain.

Good job deleting the spam posts, it is (as someone said below) the honorable thing to do. A couple days ago, I'm not sure if you saw it or not, but someone got MOTD because they got 130 spammed "I Like It's", thanks for deleting the spam, ground meat makes me sick. :) |

IS this actually MOTD? I guess I assumed I saw it on the home screen because I was logged in. Hmm. Anyway, I am glad people like it, thoa sad it won thru a scam.
Just for perspective, this model is like 10 years old. I couldn't even find the orginal pictures on brickshelf. Thoa the Flickr ones are here:

Yea. This MOC is cool. But I never expected it to win any awards. I suppose someday I will come back to MOC pages and upload the actual cool stuff I have been working on. |

That is the honorable thing to do. Some other people are too lazy to delete the comments or just want unearned fame. You were smart and did the right thing. |

Ok. What the heck is the point of that SPAM post???? I went ahead and deleted them, because they annoy me. In case anyone is wondering, I am not looking for anyone to inflate my rankings here. Keep it to one post, and we will all be happy. |

Pretty nice job, the long legs look interesting, but once again, another MOTD taken by spammers... |

I think the model itself is cool, but I think the models would be more useful apart and built. The eyes are a bit unbalanced, not rotating the other way. Maybe a turntable and the hinge facing the gun would work. The machine blaster gun, mounted on the front, I think would be too weak to blow a 20-foot crater. The dish is awesome, givening the feeling of power. I think the droid element underneath looks cool. The legs look like they're defying gravity, so why don't you make another one, with greater stability and power elements. (engine pieces, multiple dishes, neon green rods and other stuff, etc.) |
