Merry Christmas, MOCpages!!

Following Thanksgiving, Christmas is up next . . .

According to my 2007 American calendar, the next consecutive internationally-celebrated holiday is Christmas. Yes, CHRISTMAS, not “The Holidays”, that phony name made up to replace Christmas. But the point is, this is a good occasion to make a few vignettes. This first one is the house featured in the main photograph.

Thanks to The Lego Company’s Building Bonanza and an interesting stoplight design, this vignette, entitled “I’m A-Dreamin’”, features a warm, snug little house on the corner of High Ave. and Park St.

With the help of half a bottle of baby powder, 3927 Park Street is now nothing but a snow drift, every once and a while mistaken by neighborhood skiers to be a newly-constructed jump ramp. And the Christmas lights? Don’t ask me where I got them, because my parents gave them to me a long time ago. No, they do not light up, and yes, they are 100% perfect minifig-scale, and fit perfectly on the Building Bonanza set. All it’s missing now is a chimney with cotton smoke lazily swirling up into the cool gray sky, drifting off course every once and a while to the rhythmic melody of the winter breeze, bringing yet another centimeter of wet, slushy snow upon the already-blanketed roof.

Can someone please play “I’ve Been Dreamin’ of a White Christmas”? I think it will be appropriate.

Instead, however, he sighs and continues his journey through the banks of freshly-fallen snow.

I must say the traffic light is somewhat of a masterpiece when you dab a bit of baby powder on the street signs.

A welcoming sight, though I forgot to add a Christmas wreath on the front door.

A shadow passes above a lonely stranger as he turns a bend underneath the blanketed traffic light, squeaking softly as it swings slightly against the temperate northern winds.

As the man (with his hands in his pocket) comes trudging down the sidewalk, seemingly breathing out smoke in loud puffs, he peers inside the welcoming neighborhood home, no different than all the others throughout the neighborhood, with the brightly-ornamented Christmas tree silhouetted against a bright and warm room, tempting him to ease himself closer to the frost-covered windows.

Frost on the doors is unseen as one peers through the cold, yet bright, entranceway.

Glitter was my first option for the drifts . . . but baby powder reigned supreme!

A lonely evergreen shrub is left alone in an unfriendly world, accompanied only by an unfinished snowman that slowly disintegrates in the devouring drifts. Though Christmas is always accompanied by holly and flickering lights, it is rarely accompanied by what Christmas’ main job is: to express joy and love throughout the world, though this is not going to be accomplished in one night’s delivery of toys from the North Pole. It needs something more . . . something deep within our minds that needs to be driven out . . . something that has to do with our world’s existence and its future. Have you guessed yet? The Lego Brick, accompanied by a dab of baby powder, such as is featured in this vignette.

Okay, okay, I may be kind of whimsical this time of year, but fortunately it does not last all year long. Please do not degrade your rating because of my blunt text!

Looks astonishingly real! The trafficlights are superbe...hm, what about some more lights or a bunch of plastic reindeer in the front yard? A bit more details would work out fine, I guess. Best wishes & merry X-Mas, Jens.
