Who is to say that the insanity of the Cyclopean Virtue and Arachnoid, the chaos bringer, can wreak the greatest havoc? He has obviously not witnessed the annihilation of Armageddon. This breed of infected machines has known nothing capable of stopping them. They plow through civilization, leaving behind only a swath of death and primordial rubble. The mightiest of towers crumple amidst the explosions of its ballistics and wave after wave of infantry perish by its merciless blade.
On a particularly red night, a shrieking wail by the harbinger of doom pierced through the twilight. Gazing down the horizon from which came that abominable call, I saw a line of lights stretching as far as land permits. Next hailed thunder, and before I had looked up to see that there were no rain clouds, my eyes went blind and my hearing deaf. I had been thrown by the impact of an explosion and tossed onto the cold black earth, where the ground was wet, not by drops of rain, but by the flood of blood from my pulverized comrade.
Amidst the chaos, I heard sounds of muted thunder and felt the earth’s violent tremble. Things flew by me. There were sharp fragments mingled with the flying debris. Blind and deaf, I was reduced to crawling like a worm amidst the upheaval of war. My hand felt a mush of warmth, which was not soil but the innards of a fellow soldier, who was still alive and writhing in pain. I was blind to the macabre horror surrounding me, but I gradually regained my hearing, only to pick up a most dreadful sound amidst the screams of agony.
It was the earsplitting sound of the diabolical machines with their alien mechanics emitting a jarring din. With each attack of the shrill sound I felt my nerves cringe. I knelt and clasped both hands madly against my ears and screamed my loudest –and heard nothing but the raging machines. I began regaining my eyesight, and oh had I wished I was permanently blind! There and on my knees with my head inclined toward the dead heavens, I gazed upon the colossus of my punisher, a horrendous sight which I shall never forget.
The immense black mass that towered before me blotted out the red night sky. It rolled on thick treads that bore deep into the flesh of our earth. On its back sprouted countless slithering tentacles agitating with demonic thirst for devastation. And planted on the forefront of the monstrosity were massive rotating cannons that unceasingly discharged at its helpless victims. And there in the center of the ring of artillery was the core –the bloated swelling eye that glowed brighter than a cold full moon!
The machine charged unyieldingly, and a giant rotating blade on its downwardly-angled front sucked in the feeble men in its path and minced them in a mélange of flesh and blood. It was coming for me; I was next! I was next!
I do not remember what happened then, but I had lived. I woke in the morning light in a bomb hole, where the horror must have passed over me. I climbed out of my grave and faced the blue sky –tranquil. I could say that there was peace –only to say that everyone was dead. The earth was no longer black; in fact I could not say that I even saw the earth but a covering of crushed and dismembered remnants of my kind. It was Armageddon, and I was the lone survivor in the graveyard of civilization.
Of all the strange associations to make, this brought to my mind the movie Doctor Zhivago.
Besides the general atmosphere, the color scheme suggests Strelnikov's command train.
I think that looks really cool! Even though it (your creation) has nothing to do with Star Wars, it reminds me of the Yuuzhan Vong biological warfare machines that the species used in the Yuuzhan Vong war against the New Republic. Anyway, back to the bottom line, brilliant use of power functions and Lego. 5/5.
probably the greatest human grider tank i've ever seen. and probably the best story i'veever read. a lot like what what I write, only yours is not as violent. And it doesnt have as much cusssing as my stories :)
I'M TERRIFIED! This is one of the most creative lego MOCs I have ever seen. You are definitely dark but I like it. I am privileged to write my first review on your horrific creation.
What an insane creation. I love that fact that its motorized and remote controlled. The description seems horribly dark and gloomy, but in a way that (of course) suits the creation. Is some of Poe's work part of your inspiration in this short story?
Simply amazing! The build is great, the story is a bit TOO detailed, and for once a good use of those bionicle... gate things. I love it. The back reminds me of some kind of rotting vegis, may be asparagus... In a good way. Keep up the great work.
Fabulous piece, Nannan, & my personal fav of all your work. However I question the wisdom of trying to imbed streaming video on MOCpages, this site is a Firefox nightmare as it is without you tooling with it! =P
Wow!! That's the R/C tank you were working at? Awesome! I like the mix between organic and machine parts. A superb biomorphical annihilation machine!!! Good job!!
This thing is awesome! I really like the way the Machine seems to be infected by some kind of monster. The tentacles coming out of it at weird angles are great.
okay Mr.poe this is great and scary. kinda like sweeny tod. would you send me instructins for the refolving launcher tho? or just post pics on how it works.
This really is artwork. The integration of a bionic upper body and tank treads makes this even more creepy than your earlier black fantasy creations, and what's more, you actually incorporated a gatling gun into the design without sacrificing aesthetics at all! The blade on the front seems a little bit out of place -- try putting a bunch of spikes sticking out from the front, they'd probably be just as effective. Great job!
I have been 0/2 in trying to review your last two creations, so I will keep this short (hopefully no dreaded "your review has been sent") - nice job. Lee.
Merry Christmas to you too! That thing and it's backstory is scary - and you post it on christmas, the day where we wish for peace? I have to say that it's an awsome MOC though...
Ok, this is just too cool. Awesome idea on motorizing it, it must be devilishly fun to drive around. As for the creation, its probably the scariest one you've built yet; a massive mix between tentacled horror and mechanized destruction on treads. Simply incredible.
