7) Legoland December 2007
The seventh stage in the development of the harbourside city of Legoland.
About this creation
SCROLL DOWN FOR FURTHER IMAGES OF THE DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE CITY...

Late 2007 saw another change in location for Legoland. The city moved from one of the spare bedrooms to one side of the carport. The additional space allowed the city to almost double in size. The new city contains some of the same buildings as the previous incarnation. This version of the city also sees more sets gracing the streets than previously. I think that this is due more to the recent availability of high quality sets, such as the Cafe Corner, than to laziness on my part. There are, however, also some new custom buildings and a number of other features.

There are now three distinct city blocks in addition to the harbour area. The block nearest the harbour houses the fire station, which sports the same historic front as in previous versions, but which now has a more modern extended structure behind it. This block also contains some commercial buildings from the previous version of the city as well as a new administration building for the City of Legoland and the Cafe Corner set.

The smaller middle block of the city is dominated by another great set - the Eiffel Tower. Despite some minor modifications, it is, of course, far too small to be to mini-fig scale. This diminutive version of the landmark is known to locals as the "Trifle Tower", but still manages to rise majestically above Legoland's low-rise skyline.

The furthest block from the harbour houses the police headquarters, which remains largely unchanged, along with a new apartment building, the Royal Legoland Hospital (apparently Legoland is a constitutional monarchy), the Market Street set, and very pokey carpark for the police headquarters. The ground floor of the apartment building also houses a fresh produce market.

Across the road from the apartments and the hospital is Chinatown, where there are more markets, a ubiquitous McDonald's restaurant, another smaller apartment building, and a small, rather grimy looking train station.

The main train station is located on the opposite side of the city, near the Eiffel Tower. Based on the current train station set, the platform has been extended and the rear fully enclosed. There are also stairs that actually lead to a pedestrian tunnel that extends under the road towards the Cafe Corner.

Back down at the waterfront, the harbour has grown further, aided by the inclusion of various elements from the 2007 harbour set.

Other additions include a rail maintenance depot and a rather small soccer field.

Other projects slated for 2008 include rebuilding the ambulance station, upgrading the rail maintenance depot and the purchase of the town plan set to facilitate the construction of a cinema next to Chinatown and a service station across the railway line from the soccer field. I figure that the pieces from the town hall in the town plan set might also be useful for the new ambulance station. I also still need to work on the interiors of a couple of the buildings.

its huge! like how you modified some lego sets. the fire station also looks cooler. i couldnt tell what you did to the police station because there was no picture of the whole thing. who knew the Eiffel tower was in England or Australia or where ever you said you lived. The the red and black car next to the dump truck and fire station wl helicopter looks like a Ford Mustang. Are all of the roads One-Way?

THIS IS TOTALY WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something that would be even cooler though, is if you made different scenes, like with your police guys and fire guys, there could be a burning bulding and you could show pics of the fire department on scene or something like that, or... well, you get my point. Keep up the good!!! :)

Each building by itself would get a three or four but together... On your home page you asked for suggestions. Give me your LEGOs is a suggestion, right? I need to clear off my LEGO table for something like this.

So cool and big, keep taking photos of the entire city or try to. your city will be huge sooner or later like some big tall buildings and residential areas and stuff.
