Battle of the 'pancake' ships!
About this creation
A double dose of cyborgs for ya. I didn't think they
warranted their own page and they're both a similar
structure anyway, using bricks sideways giving what I call
a pancake look.
First up is Piano Man (Billy Joel of course). As you might have
guessed, a former virtuoso of the piano forte. Now post accident,
his keen musical mind turns it's considerable attention to
problems of astro-physics, telemetry, inertia and thrust, weaving his
way in and out of the asteroid field gracefully like a
classical ballerina. He has retained prosthetic hands to play
the ocassional song on his old piano, reminding him of days gone by...
(I was going to have two heads, one white and one african-american,
and do the whole "ebony and ivory" thing. Thank your lucky stars I don't have
any black minifig heads...)
"Hello there. Pleasure to make your aquaitance". (He's a bit posh).
In this shot you can see the 3 different thruster
nozzles Piano Man has. A tiny but precise manouvering engine,
a mid size glide burner for efficient coasting and a large
booster nozzle.
First incarnation had identical engine nozzles: BORING!
And last but not least I introduce the prodigous,
the prodigal, the prodigy, the pontific: the Plasma Twins.
(A song by a band called the Ledgendary Pink Dots. Apparently.)
Left orphaned in a tragic kite flying accident that also
claimed their bodies, the children underwent the increasing popular
transformation into cybernetic organisms, with detachable head jars.
(Like all teenagers, they still love to go to parties, and they
have robot body attachments for just that.) The trans orange tubes are
atom funnels that channel the rarefied stellar gas into the engine
where it is annihilated to produce thrust.
Say hi kids: "G'Day fans! Hope you're cheering for us; we're gonna WIN!"
Ah, the ever modest confidence of teenagers...
"Conference time sis; Turn left or right?" "Left!"
"Check our six can ya? Anyone there?"
Squeezed some dishes in the cap the orange funnels but I didn't like it.
Piano Man slides alongside the Plasma Twins to talk a little trash:
Piano Man: "Past instances when I professed to like you were false!"
Plasma Twins: "Oh yeah?! You're going down you #$*&^!" "Yeah! We're gonna
take your head and %$@#&* until you *&(%#$@@?%{!"

Great work! I (along with just about every other living being on mocpages) really enjoy all of your work. These creations caught my eye because I'm an even more avid (and I'd like to think, talented) piano player than I am lego builder. In short, I really like it. Since you're the master of most things race related (that don't have legs at least, that title goes to legohaulic and Chewk) I was wondering if you could rate my own racer. Although it's based of of someone else's design, I was inspired to build it after looking at your racers. I guess I'd just be (for want of a better word) honored. Keep on building ~ Nowhereman |

Very cool. I love the piano one. Great use of those orange tubes. Keep up the excellent work, Shanno, and if you saw Phippy Cent's newest post, eat a funnel cake for me. |

Well that is without a doubt the best use of the orange tube containers I've seen thus far. Excellent stories for the models as well, bravo! |

The pancake look is very cool. They're both excellent ships. I like how you made the piano keys. |

He says, Bill I believe this is killing me... as a smile ran away from his face... Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star... If I could get out of this place... |

Wow Ocean, these are two awesomely sleek racers. The Piano Man is an inspirational sculpture of a racer that showcases the variety that's possible in this little genre you've created. Kite flying accident??.. tragic. |
