About this creation
Well, I originally made this one after I read Fahrenheit 451. There's a creature in it called the Mechanical Hound - a huge robotic spider that helped the fire department catch book-posessors. It jumps on them and injects them with a fatal amount of morphine or procaine. (For those who haven't read the book and therefore don't understand what I'm talking about - read it. It'll be well worth your time). So I liked the idea of a mechanical spider with a needle coming out of its mouth. So I made it.
Next thing I know, I see a thing in the Lego Magazine that has a Rahi Challenge contest. "Build a Rahi that would be at home in the city of Metru Nui" or something to that extent. I basically said to myself, "Hey, why not?" So I gave them a few photos of the Hound and the essay and hoped for the best.
And later I got it. It won a First Prize in the contest, which meant that I get it put in a Rahi Guide coming out in Spring 2005, along with six Vahki. The catch? I bought six Vahki about a day before I got them in the mail. So now I have two of each. I might let the duplicates go and get my $50 back... oh well. ;)
