The Atlantia

This is the Atlantia, my first MOC to present you, and maybe my best ever.

Story

The Atlantia was one of a few battleships of the Capital Class, big and heavy armored, built to encounter loads of enemies on her own. The Capital Class battleships once were the most fearsome battleships among the Starfleet, not just because of their immense firepower, but also because of their fighter squadrons.
Stats:
Length: 943,0 meters
Width: 539,8 meters
Height: 106,4 meters
Decks: 32
Crew: 3567
Pilots: 70
The Atlantia is the last Capital-Class ship in the fleets of the United Federation
of Planets. The other ships have been decommisioned years ago after the last stellar
system joined the UFSS.

The Model

The model was built over several months back in 2005/06, main inspiration of course the classic Battlestar Galactica, but also few details of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.
The naming Atlantia was chosen to salute President Adar's Battlestar Atlantia, the first battlestar destroyed during the ambush attack of the cylons at the peace conference.
The model as shown below contains some detailing that is not yet possible to create in real life with Lego® pieces. Maybe SNOT technics would have made them possible, but I was no friend of it back then, so I kept it like that.

Unfortunately, I lost this model as my HDD crashed in late 06, so these are the only pictures I can show you.
Nevertheless, I try to recreate her based on these pictures, but that'll be another entry, and also needs a little more time because I try to make the detailing possible in real life so maybe, one day, I build her.

Rendering Time:
Between 1:36 hours and 2:56 hours per picture

The oblique shot of the Atlantia showing the port recovery bay

the bridge section. not what you want to face in deep-space combat...

sitting there waiting for a victim

fore scanner platform

probably the best shot of her. at least my favorite picture

the lady's rear end

approaching the starboard recovery bay

greebles underneath the head

naming her. also note the starting tubes for the fighters!

Maybe I should add that the changing quality of the pictures are a result of familiarizing with radiosity effects.

Now it's up to you, comment it.
Thanks for your time!

Now this is a SHIP! Easily your best. I really love the engine design. So big, but it still has a very sleek feel to it. 50/5

A fine choice of creations IMHO!!! (The new BSG is one of my favorite shows currently, and I love the ships from the original show.) Some of the detail work is nice, and I'd love seeing this in actual brick. It might be a tad flat compared to length and width, but still a great MOC. I'm giving serious consideration to making my next SHIP the Galactica or Pegasus, and your creation's very inspiring!

Speechless, just speechless... Great job on this! was this done with a lego software? the detail is really good, if only you made some little fighters to go with it...
