Hot-drop a pair of Sentinels in the middle of the fray!
About this creation
After putting together the storm Lasher I thought "Well, that's kinda lame." The beautiful rotors made the set, but the body of the craft seemed to really need something more.
I noticed the fuselage bore a close semblance with the Skycrane Helicopter and thought "Dropship!"
I added a simple connector rig to the underside, anchoring a pair of 2x4 plates with holes. I didn't want to use a traditional stud connection; I wanted something reliable, but looser, that would allow for easy pick-up and drop-off.
While I was at it I fixed up the cockpit, removing the lame mandibles and giving the pilot some controls to play with. The green thing? I say it's a holographic display tank, sort of like a hands-free touchscreen (pardon the oxymoron) for the shipboard computer. Using a built-in ocular laser pointer, the pilot can interact with ship controls displayed in the tank.
I had a handy pair of sentinels waiting for something to do. The torsos have been heavily modified, allowing for a well-anchored peg to poke out over their shoulders. I stuck the red disk on just cuz I can't stand wasted space. Laser? Enhanced optics? Call it what you will.
The Sentinels loaded, ready for lift-off. Their weapons are left free to aid in defense of the Lasher.
With the loose peg-in-plate locking system, the Sentinels rock and sway quite nicely as the ship makes its way to the drop-site.
I had that set and didn't care for it for the sam reason! Brilliant idea mixing your mechs& ship from the same series. It seems more like improvements to the set, whereas most mods leave the set's theme out of it.
