1984 Vignette
Adaption of George Orwell's "1984" classic thriller.
About this creation
Long ago, people feared the future. A writer named George Orwell captured that and threw at their faces. the looked at it and became intrueged yet scared them out of their minds. George Orwell actually threw 1984 at their faces. George Orwell had already written his most famous book "Animal Farm" and released 1984, actually, I don't know when. 1984 takes place 40 years after the year 1944. You have no freedom. Everything you do is watched by "Big Brother", and Winston Smith is a rebel in danger. He is the only person on Earth who still has memory of a free England, which is now known as Airstrip 1. You can't turn a corner without seeing a poster saying "Big Brother is watching you". A large number of children are agents for the "thought police" who will take you away at night if you think anything freely, against "The Party" or against Big Brother. Thought police are everywhere. Winston's Neighbor's children have accused him of "thought crime before". he ignored it as their mom made up excuses that she thought made things better. Parents are afraid of their own children if they're thought police, for they will even turn in their own siblings, parents or relatives. The year is 1984.

Here, Winston is trying to ignore the torn up poster in the dull, polluted streets of London on his way to work at the Ministry of Truth, and in NewSpeak*, Minitrue.

Winston, Mini figure. I tried to pick out my saddest and dullest Mini Figure head and Came across Obi-Wan-Kanobi. I usually don't use Peach pieces but this was the best i could find, I thought about making a decal, but maybe I'll do that for my next vignette. I know he also has a black mustache in the book, and no beard.

*A language used by characters sometimes in the book so that people can talk faster with out stammering.

Great depiction! The poster is non-Lego, which honestly bothers me, but truly how can you do it otherwise? Good depiction of a difficult subject. (You could do the end scene...with O'Brien and the rat torture?)

Ah, this was such a good book. After all it's so happy and cheerful. You know, George Orwell made a lesser known sequel called 1985 or why ice-cream and lollipops are so good.

Excellent, though (I'm quite a die-hard Orwell fan) the BLUE overalls of the Party are the obligatory clothes for everyone, and well Obi Wan doesn't look that gloomy and sad as a Winston should... Anyway, just the opinion of an Orwellian purist, but a great MOC! PS: Looking forward to seeing the Ministry of Love in Lego, or some other 1984-themed thing (this is the first I find). Also, if you like history things, why not try make a Spanish Civil War MOC (one day you guys are gonna kill for saying this to every person who has built something that reminds me of 1936-1939 period in my country)

Cool. Have you ever seen the film Equlimbrium? It's a lot like the book 1984, but people are arrested just for feeling, because it has been decided emotions are the root of war. I think it was based on the book, but they decided to jazz it up a bit.
