A gathering of the various factions of Basmentonia.
About this creation
So continues the saga of Basmentonia: “The Gathering”
This is actually version 2 of this scene, after some constructive feedback from people I respect I rebuilt about 80% of this scene, so without further ado here is the new and improved version.
Here we find the Emperor of Basmentonia gathering together the good and neutral leaders from across the land. His goal of this meeting is to combine the various forces to battle the evil Baron Dratsab.
Word has come, at the cost of five of the Emperor’s spies, that Dratsab had increased his army size three-fold through his associations with the demon Coleoidea.
Allies have been called, bribes have been made, and neutral races have been invited to attend this feast. No race will be safe in Basmentonia if Dratsab isn’t met in battle and defeated; although, this is looking less likely every day as the dark armies continue to increase in size.
Of course no gathering is complete without food and drink. The Emperor has spared no expense in feeding his guests. The finest of wines have been shipped in from far away lands. Even two of the royal gobblers have been sacrificed to feed his, hopefully, future allies.
The Elves, Halflings, and even the indifferent Dwarves have come to hear the Emperor’s plan. The leader of the Peasant’s Guild, Pascal, is also here to show the support of the Guild.
The only reason the kids and I built this scene was to spotlight my newest acquisitions – the Lego turkeys. They were not inexpensive, but I am happy that I picked them up – I do hope that Lego will see fit to bring this item back in the future. It would also be nice if they brought back the pitchfork.
This version 2 also has some serious contributions from my lovely wife. She actually sat down and tried building some of the trees. Heck, she was even searching the internet and BrickShelf for some examples. We did not use any of her designs, but she admitted that “it was harder than it looks”; which is nice coming from an extremely creative woman.
The trees made here are the favourites of mine made to date. Unfortunately, it absorbed all of my white “leaves” and half of my green, bright green, and dark green ones. In addition, it also took most of my ‘vines’.
I hope you enjoy our latest addition to the chronicles of Basmentonia (funny, it was only today, after being awake for 30-hours while on call, that I realized I had misspelt basement in Basmentonia – too late to change it now ;-) ).
For those that ask me where all the parts come from, please check out Bricklink , because that is the source of the majority of my parts.
The white tree that grows over The Emperor’s brothers graves. They both died in a duel over a misunderstanding.
White tree with pink blooms.
The vine tree as designed by my daughter, which instantly became my favourite.
The bridge, actually started as a belly for my Balrog V2 (a WIP).
SNOT trans-dark blue river
The Emperor talking with his best friend Assahail Dharamsi (Left); and Manzo Nakamaru (Right) – leader of the Assassin’s guild.
Elessar Mithrandír – leader of the Western High Elves
Sword Master Boyle escorting High Priestess Gina.
Ruby Bracegirdle of Laundrae (right) – leader of the Halflings and her life partner Fritmuch Bracegirdle (left) are talking with the mayor of the villagers – Fridrik Falkisson (center, facing).
The leader of the Thieves’ Guild – Marchawk Closetskie.
Monk Gregor Mendel (left, gray beard) and High Wizard Neuronal (right, black beard - which is a stock piece, just not easy to find). Both are from the Wizard’s Guild.
Bring (right, red beard) and Wring Oilsand (left, black beard), representing the Northern Dwarves, are enjoying a goblet of wine (Wring being a little impatient and opening his own barrel).
Andries Zegwaard, a mercenary from the wastelands of Yardback, has indulged in a bit too much wine and has had to find a place to relieve himself. Ever the gentleman he at least turns his back to the group.
Genevive Fétide, a ranking member of the Assassin’s Guild, has found a nameless soldier to help satisfy her abundant “appetite”.
Ah, what is this? The High Bishop is spying on the gathering. What are his motives? Why is he here observing the comings and goings of men? As a spy or is there some other motive?
The lizard men (just Batman Killer Croc minifigs, but they worked well for the application). They are feasting upon those that have ‘drowned’ in the river. I used the new (Caucasian) flesh tone for the dead bodies.
Wow; details, beautiful details! This is one of those 'stare at the pics for a few hours' pages. Good tot see those Lizard bloke get a bita tucker! The scenery here is some of the best I've seen. The white tree with the pink blossums is amazing but your daughter's tree (I think it looks like a Weeping Willow) does steal the show. lol "harder than it looks" Yeah, as we say in Australia: "no sh*t Sherlock!" :)
Aside from a dancing plethora of other things, I noticed the Thieves guild and the Assassins guild. Is that a tip of the hat to the undisputed master of comic fantasy Terry Pratchett? Or am I just reading things. Keep on building ~ Nowhereman
Quoting Lord Lego 436
Elessar Mithrandir, eh?
You're not the only one who's read The Lord of The Rings.
Nice job, though,
This similar comment seems to come up a bit. Just as a note I used a name generator to come up with most of the names - the name in question included. Therefore, if I am being accused of plagiarism, then at least include all of the names for completeness sake. ;-) Lee
excellent as always.hope you review some of my halo creation, since ive seen you reviewed some other halo creations so maybe you could take a time to see mine?my castle mocs will be up soon.hope I see a review from you soon!
AWESOME! Where are the kid's commander's though, aren't they against the Baron Dratsab as well? And who's the High Bishop again? Sorry to bother!
P.S. I've loved your creations for a while, but this is the first time I've commented on them, so great job on every creation!
*wink* 'Elf-stone Gre Pilgrim' be a bit more original ol' chap, we all know you don't need to indulge in such blatant plagarism. As attested to by the show stopping white trees! They look ethereal (an adjective I reserve for incredible workmanship). I certainly hope the Emperor suceeds, in rallying the rest of your creations. I'm Glad you had the same idea for 'rotten' skin I had, one has to love decayed corpses.
To the chap below who suggested including dark elves: check up o your Norse mythology, Svartalfs are dwarves, goblins, maras, trolls, kobolds, et cetera. Alfs (light elves) are elves, fays, pixies, et cetera not counting water related spirits. Lee already has two svartalfs.
Sorry I didn't catch this one until now! Great MOC! Yup, those are some mighty fine Lego turkeys ya got there. Very nice landscape work, as well. Since messing with that stuff lately, I've developed a greater appreciation for well-done scenery (I'm refering to construction, not cooking), and this one does it for me...and I may have to swipe that vine tree concept for a willow some day - awesome!
I must apologize. I have spent so much time in Basementonia and have thus far neglected to leave a review. You and your kids (I'll hold off on my normal repartee for their sakes) have amazing builds. My little one is as of yet, unable to help me in my MOCs. She is only 16 months old and is just starting to get the duplo thing going. Your attention to detail continues to astound and inspire me. Thanks for your reviews. I'll be sure to get around to your other MOCs soon. Later ~ Chris.
Really beautiful, full of details, cunningly built. I hope you don't mind, but I think the trees are the stars - not the turkeys. Unless it's about eating, then I'd prefer the turkeys. :) And you have a very talented daughter, my regards to her.
I like it

WOW this is huge and the bridge and trees are realy cool how did you make that bridge?
this is one of your best i realy realy love it:P
please check out my new Ak74su
(Faints in amazement!) How do you make all this?! The biggest thing i've made is about 40cm long and 10cm high! You, on the other hand, seem to have unlimited bricks! By the way, the Black Scarabs pledge our support in your war against the barron guy... sorry, i forgot his name. At least, we'll help once we've posted some creations. lol :-)
It is just all so good, I want to complement everything. That would take too long, so just pretend I did ;) I really love the trees, and that is the PERFECT staff for a Gandalf. Excellent job, and I love the bridge. Oh, and I love your daughter's tree the best, too.
Haha, you shall never know the High Bishop's motives, for he conceals them even from himself! He hides motives within enigmas within mysteries within riddles within motives! Never lets the right hands know what the left hands are doing! Soon he shall rule Basementonia for himself! MUAHAHAHAHA -- wait, forget you heard that last part...
