Loosely based on a poem that struck my fancy. Here's the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: A Psalm of Life: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Psalm_of_Life
Again, this is only looesly based on the poem. I was really inspired by only one stanza to make this vig:
"Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;"
So ture, indeed. But what this particular vig represents, since it's really only based on this stanza, is to live life to the fullest and make your positive mark on the world, because life's too short. And death surrounds us, but that should not be what we live to do. To die. Does that make sense? ;-) Any-whoo, this vignette may have individual interpetations, and I hope to make some more vigs based on poems, songs, etc in the future! :-)
(The vig is supposed to be multi-level. The top level is the ground, where the skeletons are is supposed to be underground.)

Wow...very existential. Great work painting a picture here; it strikes home your point. It reminds me of a quote from The Stranger by Albert Camus (not 100% accurate quoting here) "It was a breeze that had always been blowing towards me." |
