


I often use the LegoŽ Mindstorms NXT set for many creations. This is one of my early ones, which was refined to this robot.
This is a robot that will pick up dust, crumbs, or anything you want swept aside on any hard surface. A sensor that looks like and is used for eyes is positioned in the front so it doesn't bump into things. If you've heard of them, this is sort of like those robot vacuum cleaners that go around a room in random directions, cleaning as it moves, and making a virtual map of the room (although this one doesn't do that). Below the "eyes" there's a cleaning bar attached to a motor. It's made of gears that are like bristles. When the robot moves forward, that motor moves with the motors controling wheels, sweeping things back. More useful in the back of the robot I made a bar that has a paper towel, wet or dry taped down which picks up small dust the motorized broom couldn't get. I actually used a disposable cloth from a dry mop.
