The Mongoose from HALO 3, in all its mini-wathog like glory!
About this creation
Building this was the most fun I've had with LEGOs in some time. Once I had the idea to build the different parts separately and then clip them all together as opposed to building it from just bricks on top of planks, the possibilities made for one the most interesting and complex (fragile) creations I've built.
Here you can see how it all fits together. I had thought about putting on some suspension, but it ended up being too bulky and made the Mongoose even more prone to break into all its little pieces. Besides, those pieces attached to the wheels kind of look like shocks, right?
I had to use one light bley colored piece for the rear seat's flap. Fortunately, it's only visible from this angle and no other new colored pieces or megablocks were used.
I love how the rear fenders turned out. Did you know that the antenna isn't actually in the game? I think they cut it out of the final version, but I put one on anyway. It just makes the Mongoose look that much cooler.
One detail I wasn't able to squeeze in was the yellow label behind the handlebars. I might try to make a decal of it. What would you think of that?
Even though I couldn't make the back in the same color, I decided to make the front in the more accurate sand-green anyway.
Look at all those little clipy pieces...
The windshield is a little short, but it works.
Nothing like having a marine with a rocket launcher in the back seat.
Lastly, here's a pic of it next to my slightly improved Hornet. Which is your favorite for killing pesky scarabs?
Thanks for looking! I'm considering making some instructions, if enough people ask for them. Now, review (or just rate)!
Update!(6-02-2008): Changed the main photo. The stickers are from Justin Stebbins and the Assault Rifle is from BrickArms. Also, I finally got instructions up!

I guess I forgot to review this way back when, sorry. Anyway, one of the best Halo MOCs out there, not as good as your hornet but still very good. All it is missing is some BrickForge space marine armor :) Hope to see you again at BrickWorld 09, and keep up the great work! |

This is a pretty good mongoose. The only thing that catches my atention is the size of it. I think that its a little too big, but overall you did a good job! |

Nice. This must have taken a bit of creativity. I like how you reversed the LEGOs to create the windshield. |

Nice, I knew someone would finally make a decent mongoose. What's wrong with light-bley anyway if it's official Lego? |

Its pretty good. like the color and overall shape. I think the front is a little too big, it might need some refining, but with improvements it could be the best one on mocpages. PS, i like using the mongoose to kill scarabs, the hornet is too easy and i like to be close to the action. |
