About this creation
St. Aidan's Parish, a Catholic Church in Livonia MI, hosted a "Celebrating Families" event on April 12-13, 2008. Several members of MichLUG put up a town and train display; MichLUG's "Purple" Dave Laswell displayed his BioniWars creations as well as his collection of minifig Batman characters; and the church's Director of Faith Formation, David Conrad, displayed his own medieval cathedral model.

The tall building, 1001 Woodward, is by Chris Leach; the racetrack and 1x3 block are by Steve Grant; the fast food restaurants and Pewabic Pottery are by Peter Guenther; the office building is by Steve Weiser; and the Batman characters are by Purple Dave. The overall layout was 8.5 large tables. | |  | Steve W. marked his return to building with this innovative office building, using SNOT techniques for most of the walls and structure. Eventually the structure will grow into a whole complex. | |  | Chris L.'s 1001 Woodward has gradually been getting taller, as he acquires more parts. This show he displayed it with his also-ever-growing tower crane.
|  | David Conrad's cathedral is based on a number of Romanesque and early Gothic inspirations. The separate baptistry, he says, was more common in Southern Europe than Northern. The crossing tower would be more typical of English cathedrals, while the semicircular apse was more French. |  | The cathedral opens in several innovative ways--both transepts come off as well as a couple sections of roof. The interior is fully detailed, with tabernacle, ambo (podiums for readings), cathedra (bishop's chair), altar, and candlesticks.
