Working scale model
About this creation
This is the longest model I have made, being exactly 1 metre (8x16lug bricks).

FEATURES:


  • deck lifts (internal and external),
  • blast deflectors
  • radar (OK they just spin round...)
  • deck & landing lights etc.
  • catapults (elastic band powered)
  • arrestor wires (elastic bands)
  • propulsion (see below)


The propulsion works by a single drive wheel powered by three motors (two connected through a differential and one direct to the wheel), all from the RCX (with remote control). It only runs on laminated floor, due to the size and weight. It uses the different speeds for successful manouvreing as the steering is really lowly geared (because of the weight) so it (realistically)takes time to turn.


There are a load of scale models (fighters, E-2c AWACS, helicopters etc) with folding wings.


The top deck has smooth cardboard to provide a surface for the aircraft to 'taxi' on and launch successfully from the catapults.
