04/19/2008: I got the idea for this layout while building Duplo Track Layout 5. My three-year-old son asked for some train layouts with hills, and when I saw the criss-cross piece in our pile of tracks, this idea popped in my head. I started in the center, and built the two hills, and then I looked at it and decided to join the ends where they were closest together (for no particular reason), which created a figure eight. Maybe it was because I had just created a figure eight on the other side of the room that this seemed a little boring, and I thought it ought to be a clover, so I set up another bridge and fooled around with some curves until they joined up properly. There is a table in the way right now, so I couldn't add a fourth hill to the other side. I might move the furniture around tomorrow and do that, or I might create an underpass. There a lot of empty carpet in the middle of that layout.

A note on the Duplo train bridges: My son really likes these, so when I saw them for sale at half price: I bought six more, bring our total collection to eight. I can't imagine a layout that might utilize eight bridges, but stay tuned. I might come up with something eventually. Dear Lego: this is not the first time I have bought four times as many sets at half price as I would have at regular price. When our local discount department store offered those mosaic sets at half price, I bought several copies of each. I'm not sure what that says about corporate marketing strategy, but i think that half price is very nice.

The crossing kinda defeats the purpose of the ramps... Then again, it could be a hilltop. Neat nonetheless!

Good and interesting idea! When I played with Duplo in the 80ies, I only had pretty much one (round) circle:) So I think this is quite cool for any Duplo player! Steffen
