04/20/2008: My son had been asking me every morning for a week if I would build him some hills. I knew that what he meant was that he wanted me to layout some Duplo track so he could run his trains. Every morning I had to tell him that we had to get ready to go, but I could build something for him when we get home in the evening. Every evening we would forget and do something else, and every morning he would ask me again. Finally, on Saturday, I was able to say, "Yes, we can do that today!" So on Saturday I built Duplo Track Layout 5 and Duplo Track Layout 6, and on Sunday morning he told me that he wanted BIG hills, and he pointed at the box of bricks I use to build supports for elevated sections, "with these."

I bought six copies of the Duplo Bridge set when I found them on sale for half price, so we have 8 of these, and I decided to try to build something that would use all eight of these. I toyed with the idea of climbing the train all the way up to the table top and back down, but the math doesn't work out just right. I might still try that another day. This seemed the most straightforward solution. Four hills on the left and four hills on the right.

My son is using his motorized train to pull all his other engines up the mountain. It does a really good job pulling them up, but on the way down, they pushed the motorized train right off the tracks, so he had to limit his train to five engines.

Pretty cool that you did that with your son, its sad to see that more and more parents are just dropping their kids off at day care and rarely do anything fun and creative with them. I don't have kids, being 17, but if I ever do their never going to day care.

Adorable! definitely would have made me the happiest lil kid on the block! (too bad no matter what I do, I could never have been that cute!)
